Hi Dean,
So you bought one of those expensive programmes! Very glossy though! Hayleys ROD programme was a much cheaper, and mine is signed by Hayley too!

I have only seen Faryl on You tube, but I think she has the makings of a very fine singer- her voice has great power and richness for such a young girl. I hope she gets the voice training that will enable her to fufill her great potential and give her a long lasting career in the music business.
The only thing that interests me in a singer is the voice- cuteness/beauty and age won't persuade me to buy a cd! Hayley sold all those records in New Zealand because of her amazing clear, pitch perfect soprano voice- not because she was a child. I am from New Zealand and I remember Hayley very well from before she became famous- I saw her perform on a daytime tv show very early on and it was obvious she was something very special. Her voice sent chills up and down my spine and her international success didn't surprise me at all.

Martin yes I paid for a signed copy for £12 and I also got a framed signed photo I haven't asked Hayley to sign my RoD programme yet (I prefered to get a signed personal photo)

Hi Meagan,
Thanks very much for the information. Provided Faryl's album is well promoted and receives a good amount of airplay (as I suspect it will), I believe it will be extremely popular. It is one of very few albums (apart from Hayley's) that I fully intend to buy as soon as it is released.

Does anyone know if that track listing would qualify as "Classical" for the puposes of Classic FM?

Hi Martin,
A quick look at the tracklisting makes this possible (for the UK charts 8 of the tracks need to be "classical") but there isn't really enough information out there to give an opinion, not yet anyway.
Cheers, Dave

I am actually quite impressed by the new songs in Faryl's tracklisting that I don't believe I've seen on other crossover albums. That's pretty much always a huge plus in my books! I'm sure I will probably be purchasing her album as well.

I'm going to pass, I will not start on a "second generation" of young sopranos.

Well, not to get too picky, but mezzo soprano in this case! As far as I'm aware Faryl and Katherine are the only two well known mezzo's in this crossover genre.

The same would apply to young mezzos as well.

I'm going to pass, I will not start on a "second generation" of young sopranos. Well, you could be missing out on something here. As I understand it, Hayley's own international career nearly didn't get started because Costa Pilavachi though we didn't need another Charlotte Church, and didn't bother listening to Hayley's demo. Until he heard it played by one of his staff, and was blown away by her voice. Martin

Good point Martin! For me almost every artist I really love I have previously disliked for some silly reason, such as "Oh she's just another Charlotte..." with Hayley. I think you've just got to give artists a chance. If you don't like their product, fair enough, but to block all new young sopranos and mezzo's....

Well, CW, I too started out thinking Hayley would be a CC clone. I had never bothered to listen to her either, until I went to a concert specifically to hear her support act, Katherine Jenkins. It took Hayley a few seconds to convince me how wrong I had been about her. I came away from that show raving about Hayley, not Katherine!
