On TV3 news they showed a 13yo choir boy who song Pie Jesu called Andrew Johnston. He was very good. He suffered from bullying in the past for his voice but now everyone loves him. The judges looked speechless.

Hi Ross,
So you see that in NZ, eh? Yes, young Andrew certainly stood out amongst some of the other contestants. Hopefully, his success so far will stop any further bullying. Perhaps we will find out in the weeks to come.

I don't normally watch this show but I happened to switch over just before I heard him. He had an excellent voice, its sad that he was bullied for being in a choir, so it obviously took alot of guts for him to perform. Hopefully it will pay off for him.

Another Classical Style singer in this year's Britain's Got Talent is 12-year-old Faryl Smith. www.northantset.co.uk/news/Faryl-to-woo-Simon-Cowell.3961709.jpI'd be interested in how both these singers fare! Gerrit PS Richard I didn't want to start a second separate thread about this year's Britain's Got Talent - maybe you could change the title yet again so this could be a thread about relevant performers in general about this year's competition.?

Done! If any of the performers become superstars in the future, we can start new threads as appropriate. Richard

I don't normally watch this kind of thing but I did enjoy this programme, not only Andrew Johnston but also the 4 girls with electric violins. (Scala I think they were called.)

Hi Jeff Like you, I rarely watch these sorts of shows, not that I have anything against them, its just that I hardly ever watch TV. Anyway, I just happend to be watching when the four girls with violins were on - yes they are called Scala and I have seen them before - performing live on stage I was at a conference at the Birmingham International Conference centre in January and Scala were the pre dinner entertainment. I seem to remember that they took it in turns to come down from the stage and mingle around the tables, still playing thier violins. I can remember being very impressed and thinking what an un usual idea. The judges certainly thought they would go far - who knows, they may win Best wishes Mark

With regards to Faryl Smith, she sings in a choir called Masquerade with my daughters. They did a charity concert last year and one of the parents videod it. Tape quality is poor and fuzzy, but her voice still shines through in the solo. uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4vxlUmDboMw. Also another of her can be seen on www.northantset.co.uk/videonews/Is-Faryl-the-next-Charlotte.3255923.jpI believe she is due to sing on Britain's Got Talent this Saturday coming, possibly Ave Maria, so there will be a lot of clips uploaded no doubt. It is rumoured that she has done well and made it pretty far in the competition, although of course, nobody confirms anything. She's a lovely girl, modest and unassuming, we here in her home town are all cheering her on. (Edit by Joe...fixed YouTube link)

For those interested, it seems the link to Faryl singing Eidelweiss did not copy in correctly. If you search Eidelweiss Masquerade on UK you tube, you should find it. Well worth a listen, she has a lovely voice.

Faryl was brilliant and I wish her well on Britain's Got Talent. Best wishes, Joe

I have watched some of the semi finalist on U tube and Faryl Smith was excellent she should win it this year. Andrew Johnston was great too and could get better with more confidence. I am waiting to see Scala (the electric string quartet) as I really like them. By the way I have ordered Connie Talbots new album and I have downloaded heaps of her U tube videos.

I hate to say this, but a lot of the papers are now tipping that dancing dog Gin to win the final, which would be a pity, talented though he and his owner obviously are. Not sure Simon helped Faryl with his bias towards her. I hope the public vote with their heads and not their sentiment. I thought Faryl looked really lovely in her performance last night and sang beautifully. Looking forward to hearing her sing Amazing Grace in the final now

I have now seen Escala in the semifinal and they were great. I can see why they are the judges favourite to win. I would go to a concert to see them.
