Yes, a very happy Easter to all on this board. Careful of too much chocolate though, it tends to interfere with singing, and what better day to do that than this after 40 days of penance?
Give us a rousing Easter hymn, you singers here!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Let the holy anthem rise, And the choirs of heaven chant it In the temple of the skies; Let the mountains skip with gladness, And the joyful valleys ring With Hosannas in the highest To our Savior and our King.
Alleluia! Alleluia! He endured the knooted whips, And the jeering of the rabble, And the scorn of mocking lips, And the terrors of the gibbet Upon which He would be slain. But His death was only slumber, He is risen up again!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Like the sun from out the wave, He has risen up in triumph From the darkness of the grave, He's the splendor of the nations, He's the lamp of endless day; He's the very Lord of glory Who is risen up today.
Alleluia! Alleluia! He has burst His prison bars; And has lifted up the portals Of His home beyond the stars; He has won for us our freedom, "Neath His feet our foes are trod; He has purchased back our birthright To the kingdom of our God.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Blessed Jesus, make us rise From the life of this corruption To the life that never dies. May Thy glory be our portion, When the days of time are past. And the dead shall be awakened By the trumpet's mighty blast.
Happy Easter!
Edit: I changed the yellow and pink text to orange and red. Richard

This reminds me ... Why is it in tennis customary at a score of 15-0, 30-0, 40-0 to say 15-love, 30-love, 40-love? If you don't know, there's a clue to the answer is in Roger's quote - and it happens to be true too, no matter how far-fetched it seems at first ! Happy Easter! Gerrit But how can you eat more than one egg in France, Stephany? I thought one egg would be un oeuf! Happy Easter, everyone! Roger

Gerrit, I always wondered why we were counting as such in tennis matches. I don't guess the origin of it even with the clue in Roger's message. Happy Easter to everyone once again (=> to remain on topic!).

Hmmm, Stephany,
I'll give others a chance to ponder over this. It HAS to do with l'oeuf. Suffice to say, that 40-40 (deuce) is related to deux (two being equal)! The English terminology in tennis is on some places very much derived from the French!

Happy Easter everyone, & thanks Fusilier for that hymn. If I may quote the last verse. It says it all. Alleluia! Alleluia! Blessed Jesus, make us rise From the life of this corruption To the life that never dies. May Thy glory be our portion, When the days of time are past. And the dead shall be awakened By the trumpet's mighty blast. Beautifully put. I rejoice myself when I read it. Graemek
