That is something to be really treasured, Grant and the pun is unintended. I was thrilled when my friend presented his painting of me to me and to have one done by your Mum that really is something. Did she paint any more, if not necessaily of you, just continued painting? Was that a hobby of hers? My friend's mother used to keep a diary, very much on the theme of the published book An Edwardian Lady's Diary with little sketches, sometiems painted in water-colour of scenes she visited and people she met. Thanks for sharing that, Grant. Peter S. Hi Peter Mum painted all her life, but in her later years she concentrated on oils. I have a few of her works but after she died many were passed to close friends as mementos so that she could live on with them. I have one other in front of me right now, it sits on the wall by my computer desk. Also from a photo, it is of a dramatic sea battle "The sinking of the 'Royal George' in the Medway in 1667". I'll post it in the photography thread when I get a chance but I'm working a pantomime (Beauty and the Beast) at the moment, so I'm rather busy! Best wishes Grant

Hi Joe Thanks for the photos. I think that is the first "twin" photos we have had on this thread. I guess that It is difficult to tell which one is which, particularly at that young age. Do you still dress in the same clothes ? Thanks for sharing. Mark.

Hi Mark Glad you liked my photo. It's actually a photo of a photo. I think my twin brother and I started dressing differently at the age of 12 or so. Mind you, we drove the teachers round the twist many times by swapping seats at school. Even now I have to choose a different color shirt etc. because we work at the same place. It doesn't help them tell us apart though. Joe

... Mind you, we drove the teachers round the twist many times by swapping seats at school.... In my schools there were several sets of twins. Standard policy was to separate them as much as possible to prevent the type of confusion you and your brother must have delighted in as well as to encourage individuality and independence. I don't agree with that policy. When my sister raised her twins they were not even allowed to be in the same kindergarten class, which grieved them terribly. Where's the harm in letting twins have their fun and games?

Delighted to hear of your thespian endeavours, Grant. I have not been pro-active for a long time and your post brings feelings of backstage nostalgia. Peter S.

Are we all going through a phase, males as well, a sort of 'prior to the grave' menopause. Perhaps the mood that launched 'One Foot In The Grave'? This nostalgia, this re-awakening of memories. This re-visiting of deep-buried emotions and re-living periods, like playing back an emotional video of the opening scenes of a major epic in which we are still engrossed, forgetting it is we who are creating it!
Perhaps it is just me. I happen to be at that stage, for diverse personal reasons, when i was about to open up the can of worms that is looking back through the family archives. i am looking forward to the moment I can take time out of my present hiatus and start making a contribution. In the mean time, this, I find, is a great deal of fun so 'thank you' all of those contributing so far. I will follow through as soon as I can.
Peter S.

Great pictures everyone. Joe I love the twins picture! Here are a couple more of me (these ones were actually scanned instead of being a picture of a picture.) My kindergarten or first grade picture (not sure which one). With my older sister. Katie
