Isn't it funny when you hear things said alot or see it written alot it rubs off on you, Firstly i have Hayley to thank for the WOW, she has said it in interviews for as long as i can remember, she especially used it alot around 2001, Haha and i see the WOW has rubbed off on Simon on the main site i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifAnd Roger i have to thank for OMG Haha i see i've used it in the Cadogan revisited thread. Hi Belinda & everyone, Yes it's true we all copy each other. And your kids learn English (or whatever language) off you. That is until early teens whereupon they develop a new lingo. One of the things I noticed in myself with horror a while back was my own tendency to involuntarily imitate other peoples' laughs!!
Thinking back on Hayley's radio & TV interviews that I've listened to, I was struck often by her own way of quoting back almost immediately what the interviewer has asked her about.
For example in that (excellent) interview with Aled Jones on BBC Wales Aled asked her whether her Il Divo tour was 'gruelling' & she starts off saying that it was this & that etc. & after a few sentences she was using the word gruelling herself.
If that didn't make sense listen to that interview & you'll see what I mean. Graemek

Hi Belinda! I definitely relate to you there! I never used the word 'gorgeous' until I hear Hayley say it. Now it's part of my daily vocabulary -- and I've noticed that it's used quite frequently on the fourm as well. Oksy

Hi Oksy, That's probably because Hayley is gorgeous!
I find it fascinating to note the different words people use to describe Hayley's voice eg. gorgeous, exquisite, lovely, perfect, angellic,................
The fact is that when we feel passionate about the beauty of something, someone or whatever it might be, then our words always feel inadequate so we endlessly look for better ones.
That's only my opinion of course. Graemek

I know exactly what you mean Belinda, Graemek and Oksy! At school last year this boy named Curtis would always say "No joke guys." or "Dude." Well this year many of my old classmates can be heard saying "No joke" and I like to say "dude. "
I've noticed trends in speech move across the nation like trends in clothing. And of course, the trends are the last to arrive here because they come from the coasts. Among my friends the trend is not really what you say but how you say it. Making up an accent is "in" and you'll often hear many accents in one converstaion. It's quite (a word I've picked up here) fun!

Hi Caite, I'm afraid that we could go on all day about this because words are so much part of society. Actually, no words no society. Which leads me into my next 2 cents worth:
Andre Stokes described the decision to submit our heroine's name to the JIC judges for that award as a "no brainer". I have heard that expression before but I like it !! Very apt. Like: who else could it be? (that's a sort of quote from hayley) Graemek

"crikey" came to my mind, an expression used by Steve Irwin the crocodile hunter from OZ who tragically passed away recently while filming 'the Worlds Deadliest Sea Creatures.' He absolutely owned that word. Personally speaking I love to say "take care" when finishing a telephone conversation or saying goodbye. My sister in law quite enjoyed saying b*gger off when annoyed by all or 1 of her 4 children. That'll do for now. Love Marianne

Hi Belinda, Oksy , Caite & All !! 'Jiminy Crickets' I've only ever heard my next door neighbour say. (I believe it is a substitute for 'Jesus Christ') Not my cup of tea if you ask me! Anyhow, 'each unto his own'. Take care, Marianne

Hi everyone, I laughed out loud reading your posts this afternoon but I didn't want to write anything stupid so I'll just say that I sincerely want to express my deep appreciation and gratitude to each of you at HWI by thanking you for your amazing enthusiasm, kindness and never-ending support to Hayley.
