...Hayley is not the only one associated with the number 46. It is often pointed out that in 1611 the King James Version of the Bible was finished, the year shakespeare turned 46. Now 46 words from the beginning of Psalm 46 we find the word "shake" and 46 words from the end, he word "spear". .... Hmm, Hayley did sing in Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice" movie, so maybe there really is something to this number 46 thing. Thanks Georgina!

May I project this into a slightly more serious mode? Chance is supposed to be statistically calculable. Is there therefore such a thing as 'chance' (i.e. total random opportunity) or are all things calculable and 'chance' per se does not actually exist? Peter S. In order for this assertion (that chance can be statistically calculated) to be the case in any meaningful way the universe must be finite. If there are an infinite number of possibilities, the answer would be meaningless Further, If the universe is finite, it must also be knowable in totality. Consider something as simple as a molecule of water. Suppose that we were going to try to determine the odds of two specific hydrogen and one specific oxygen atoms combining to produce one specific molecule of water. Think about all of things you would need to know to make such a determination with 100 percent accuracy. In the end, I suspect that the actual answer to your question depends on the kinds of assumptions you make about the universe and the nature of ultimate reality. I suspect therefore that, while fascinating, this is a topic with so many other ramifications that it might be best left for discussion elsewhere.....Just one example: If there were a way to determine with 100 percent accuracy that I would mow my lawn tomorrow, doesnt that imply there is no free will? Or are you really asking something else ? Jon edited to correct a brain cramp by the author . I should know better than to try to write a post like this with a phone under my chin..... But what does "statistically calculated" mean? BTW, Jon, I don't see how whether you are going to mow the lawn tomorrow is a chance event. Tossing a coin or rolling numbers around in a barrell and then letting one drop out are ways of simulating chance events. But chance events can't be predicted. The best we can do is put a probability on an occurance. I there are 40 balls in a barrel I can predict that there is a 1/40 chance of anyone of them falling out first. This is the only way that I can make a "statistical calculation" about a chance event. Whether you mow the lawn tomorrow will depend on such non-chance matters as how long the grass is (if I see you mowing it today, I would predict that it is unlikely you will do it again tomorrow, but this is not calculating the possibility of a chance event because your mowing the lawn is not based on chance). Factors involving human choice are rarely chance. If you are married your wifes attitude to unmown lawns along with your deep affection or fear of her may play an important part, etc, etc i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

Well, it would have been nice to have been able to say that I was 46 yesrs old when Hayley was born but actually I was 42. As I said, 46 is four too many.

Martin Well, for what it's worth, the original female Hayley (after whom Ms. Westenra was named), Miss Mills, was born in 19 46. That certainly deepens the connection our Hayley has with that mysterious number (46).

Today in America for one brief second we had a consecutive time and date of 0 4:05:0 6 07/08/09. Hello Steve! There were two more, one in the AM and one in the PM 12:34.56 7/8/9. Add up the digits and you get 45 (Close enough) Joe
