Well, I'm about to percolate my second cup! I'm having breakfast with my headphones injecting my regular dose of Hayley into my ears so her voice is not interrupted by the inevitable clatter of the domestic necessities involved in preparing and eating breakfast. I am at the keyboard now, having looked in on the latest posts on my way to finding an appropriate thread to discuss the content of her next CD. It has suddenly occured to me that this (UK special) version of Odyssey fits the 'Easy Listening' category. I have always felt Hayley should be listened to with full attention and I don't like the principle of 'wallpaper' music. Perhaps because I have never liked music in the background. I always give any performance my full attention, otherwise I don't do anything else properly. Suddenly, for no particular reason i can define, the idea of Hayley singing rhoughout the rest of the day while I get on is extraordinarily tantalising. So... but at this point I sense Roger's breath on the back of my neck and i know it is time to find that thread and continue this monologue there...! But! Just to reassure him, in case I'm pushing his patience too far, my attitude to music probably has eveything to do with the way I was taught and brought up with classical music from the first! Peter

Interesting you should say that... Seriously, was it worth the reading? If not I'll rehone my précising skills--I did have some once! Perhaps (and here I'm gng off topic, even though it is an officially off topic board, I knew I'd do it. I'm like Hayley, don't like compartments! But she's focussed!) so I'll leave it to someone else to start the thread if it is thought worth while. How about, characters at school' or other school/childhood influences in terms of building character or other mainline interests? Peter

Hello again Peter! I've had another thought which will just about hold this thread on the subject of classical music. Now they have come up with Hayley ring-tones for mobile phones, somebody should invent Hayley whistles for kettles. "Lascia Ch'io Pianga" would make a nice tune in the kitchen! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBe careful you don't get your kettle mixed up with your phone! Exit, stage left! Richard

Hi Everybody, I had absolutely no interest in Classical Music until I heard Hayley, I had listened to some of Charlotte Church's music but on an occasional basis only. but I am enjoying every minute of it! I must admit I like Crossover artists best, and I have always liked the Classical Christian music. Since first hearing Hayley my Wife and I have watched Classic FM TV, and had it on as background music when we are round and about the house. We did like some of the Scala Choir songs, especially With or without you (originally by U2). www.kolacny.com/contentv2_frameset.asp?language=ENGWe also like Ludovico Einaudi - The Waves (Le Onde) Certain songs and pieces just seem to grow on you, and by having them on in the background eventually you get your favorites! so thats it, put me down as novice! I've been listening to some classical music since I was little but I never become interested until I started listening to some Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli. Then I began watching a local art TV station called "Bravo" and the rest is history i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI've had another thought which will just about hold this thread on the subject of classical music. Steve H I think that last point is key for many of us and is one of the reasons I suspect Hayley does not like being compartmentalised any more than do I Something appeals in a particular piece: orchestration, pace, interpretation, the words, the catchiness of the tune, the situation when first heard and for a host of complex personal reasons of which we can usually be only partly aware, we latch on to it. As William Booth (founder of the Salvation Army) said, when criticised by some po-faced individual complaining he was making Christian music too jaunty, why should the devil have all the best tunes? It reminds me I never posted that post script to my revelations of my first meeting with Hayley and her effect on me. It also has something to do with legs and those shorts!!! As for me being unavailable, I have an answerphone on permanently and never allow any intrerruptions for door-bell or 'phone when listening to music--or watching a film! Total absorption in the artist/performance is my way of listening and watching! Peter

I got into classical music because of a computer game called Final Fantasy VIII! I always found that funny. I downloaded a music video for it (fans take the FMV sequences and put it to music, there are tonnes). I found one that was put to the music of 'Deliver Me' by Sarah Brightman. It's still my favourite to this day. But from there I downloaded a lot of Sarah's material. It took a while for me to buy a CD of hers because I noted she had a few classical peices (I was into pop at the time). When I did get around to buying a few of her cds I was converted (I now have over 20 albums of hers and about 50 cds that are related to her in some way). My love was built on from that. Sarah isn't the most classical artist out there which is why I think she was a fantastic place to start, especially for pop fans (as she does that too).

Did you pick up my earlier post in this thread in which I commented that Sarah Brightman comes from my home town? Peter PS a few minutes later and of course clicking on to your web site i realise you are 'down the road' from me. PORTIA! Hi!. You ought to note that Nicola too is in Hertfordshire and around the film sudios I used to cycle round as a boy--and where Hayley Mills and her father often appeared, as also at Pinewood, Buckinfhamshire way. Portia has been emailing me privately for info on Hertfordshire as she is a keen Jane Austen fan. Peter

Ah yes, I live in Borehamwood. Home to Star Wars, Eastenders, Big Brother (unfortunately), Indiana Jones, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Top of the Pops. On Sarah's 'La Luna' DVD she is rehearsing for her tour in Elstree Studios! (A ten minute walk down the road from me). It causes me pain that she was so close, yet so far away I forgot to mention the age I got into classical; I was sixteen. I am now twenty-one I believe Posh and Becks live around here somewhere, as did Paul Young (?). We have an area right next to our town called Shenley. It's a tiny little village but it costs a bomb to live there. As is Elstree (a famous actor lives there, but I have forgotten his name). Despite this, I don't see celebrities often. I used to serve the Eastenders cast at my old work all the time and they are always walking around our highstreet. I have served four members of the Mitchell family. I must say - they look amazingly oridinary.
