Just found this having worked backwards from page 7. From Leo on Il Divo Forum for Frankfurt concert. Short report for now: Hayley was brilliant as always, but the crowd was so so... loads of people still coming in (grrrrrrrrrrr) and walking around (grmbl!!!), and just not being interested... I have said it before, and I hope I won't have to say it again... She is part of the show!!!! So some respect pleeeeeeaaassseeee!!!
(Huge sip of champagne LOL)
Okay... as for the guys...

Hi everybody Yesterday i was in Frankfurt. The whole show was amazing and Hayley was great. But there was one big problem: The audience Ok, Hayley was "just" the support-act, but the people in the hall didn't gave her any respect. I was really sad about that. Like graemek said, just a few fans of Hayley where interested and the others talked and walked around . In the end of Il Divo's show, i was a little bit surprised and disappointed that they gave a "Thank you" to everybody - but not to Hayley... Ok, enough of negative impressions My positive experience was, that It was the first time i heard her live and it was nearly the same as i listen to a cd!!! GREAT!!! So now i hope she will come back to germany as quick as possible with her OWN show and her OWN fans! LG, dalu2k

Hello dalu2k and welcome to the forum.
Many thanks for your report from Frankfurt. It is very disappointing to know that the audience payed little attention to Hayley but we have heard similar stories from elsewhere. I hope that by the end of her set, those members of the audience began to realise what they had missed.
I hope you enjoy your time hear and look forward to your future posts.
Best wishes, Roger

Okay... as for the guys... Now why oh why will they either not stop people entering AT ALL until the interval (as most theatres do) or, do as Hayley does with her own shows, start late to allow for late-comers? As Hayley herself has been quoted as saying, 'the Il Divo tour has been something of a roller-coaster ride'. This was in the States when she was quoted, so, was Europe any better (overall) or has it been as many ups as downs at least? If not more ups than downs, hopefully!? Regardless, she seems to have had a good time and that is important for her. Peter

I hope you find here the appreciative, but none the less objectively critical support for Hayley that you hoped to find. The question you raise about her own show is of course, 'does she have the audience pull in Germany?' What are her CD sales figures? Where should she put on her shows? Last year, in the UK, during the late summer to autumn/winter she had a run of concerts in churches, cathedrals and abbeys which doubtless helped to reduce the overheads and she filled these venues (on one occasion overfilling, so she went back three weeks later to fill the abbey again!) Can you assess your support for Hayley in the context of the overall population? This, I think, was one of the reasons for running with Il Divo. It was to give her wider coverage to a different audience. Some times it has worked. As you will know from this board, she has frequently wowed that audience that was there for someone else. Other times, there have been the responses of which you write. Very difficult to assess the value of this tour overall. What are your views in Germany? What are other members' views of the Il Divo tour now, folks? I think also, may i suggest, that Germany is a little more diverse and the various 'centres' are less uniform in overall tastes than might be the case in, say, the UK? Peter

Was Hayley properly introduced at this concert? Maybe, maybe not. Were people still filling the concert hall when she started? Sure sounds like it. Might the overall absence of classical concert decorum have led those unacquainted with Hayley to trivialise the warm-up act? I hate to say, it, but apparently so. I cannot fault any audience for being what it is, but a lot of that has to do with the tone of the event itself, as set by the organizers. In this case they seem to prefer the "loosey-goosey" way of putting on a show.

First thanks everybody for your heartily welcome For me, its hard to say how "famous" Hayley is here! I think, i wouldn't know her, too, if i didn't switched the TV on years before and saw her in a TV-show I understand that a young artist like Hayley need support by a more famous band. A lot of other artist started there career at this way. Maybe i'm a little bit naive, but i think, everybody who shows a great performance, should become respect!

Maybe i'm a little bit naive, but i think, everybody who shows a great performance, should become respect! You are not naive. I agree with you dalu2k. I will go further. Even though sometimes some performers don't show a great performance, we should also respect them because they do perform for us. Cheers, Raymond

While the effect of a cold on a singer can render the artist unfit for work, if only to protect her instrument never mind the probably direct effect on the voice, in my view the greater number of 'average' mortals could not take the pace. The common cold causes more lost production days than anything else, yet how many artists across the world in how many venues ever disappoint with a non-appearance? Very very few. Statistically, they've got what the average worker hasn't got--stamina! Such artists are entitled to an off-night where the average office worker would have rung in--or got someone else to ring in for them!--to cry off the day. I also think all artists have a greater sense of duty than the average person and it is not just the cliché of 'the show must go on'. They simply mean it. The job will be done as promised. Peter
