Hello everybody!  I watched this DVD again yesterday, and towards the end I spotted two very good shots of Hayley's mum Jill in the audience, apparently sitting right at the front near the stage. The first is a panned shot of Jill watching the fireworks, then there is a better shot a few minutes later where she is joining in the standing ovation. Just to emphasize the point:
These 3 performances of the young 'can't stop smiling'
Hayley are brilliant , fascinating .............etc etc.
I Dreamed a Dream (also on Live from NZ in bonus features)
from Les Miserables.
Pokarekare Ana duet with Russell Watson.....she hangs onto the final note with apparently no effort.....shocks & delights Russell!
Now is the Hour sort of a trio with Russell & Faye Tozer.......
gorgeous.
Very good sound & TV camera coverage.
I think this DVD is starting to be a bit hard to get!!
Must be in your DVD collection...Graeme
All this not to mention Russells very polished performances!!

Hi all, i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIt was this DVD that first made me aware of Hayley, I brought the DVD from smiths in an end of line basket for £3,  it was the first I had ever seen of Russell as well, I almost turned it off when Hayley came on, what a great introduction from Russell, I thought I would just keep it on for a few more minutes and WOW was I impressed by this young lady, I have to say that although I dreamed a dream is my all time favorite of Hayley's, and the one I play most in the car, but I have to say that the duet with Russell is to me the best arrangement of Pokarekare Ana (Come Back To Me) to this day, the choir in the middle are a good addition and as Hayley starts to sing after the long intro it makes the hair on the back of my neck stick up! I am not sure if its the fact that its live of the outside acoustics but its just breathtaking.  Well its the best £3 I have ever spent, I would not be here now if I had not picked it out of that basket !! Steve H  |

It was the first DVD that really introduced me to Hayley too.
Like someone else told me about how gorgeous her voice is.. and I was like 'really? OK' But when I watched her sing.. it was just breathtaking.

Hi All,
For me it was the reverse way around.
First the Wellington 'Live from NZ ' DVD
which was & still remains spellbinding.
Anybody I talk to usually gets an
earbash re that DVD. Have handed a few around too.
Then I became aware that Russel had had Hayley
on his stage duetting & also solo.
Ebay hunt followed & I ended up buying the one
in question from Melbourne.
Now I probably cane it just as much as her
Wellington concert.
The best way is start with 'I dreamed a ....' & it follows
straight on with 'Pokare....' giving a continuous play.
Also not by any means to be sneezed at are the numerous
& very often full screen quality video clips stored on the fan sites.
I've already made 2 DVD's for us comprising a bunch of selected
clips joined together using Power DVD programme.
Any number of clips (title.wmv) can still be be made to play consecutively however using Windows Media player with the advantage that dark venues (eg. Manchester Proms or gotta skate) can be lightened up as required by a touch on the slider controls.

Hi all.
Well, i've just ordered mine from Amazon at only £6.97! Which means, for the UK building the order to obtain free delivery. So, off my wish list, usually built by music I hear for the first time on classicfm, I added two very long wanted recordings, which I'll divulge just for a matter of sharing.
Shostakovich dance album (for the Gadfly Romance and other pieces)
and Grace Chadwick (Composer) Symphony No.2 Symphonic Sketches.

Edited highlights (one hour less adverts) of Russell's DVD were shown on the ITV3 digital channel in the UK this evening at 8pm. Introducing the programme, the announcer said What a pity the announcer failed to highlight the fact that Hayley was aged only 14 years old at the time the concert took place, this was a bad omission I felt - but a nice introduction nevertheless. The programme started with the entire introduction sequence from the DVD, followed by a selection of Russell's best songs and arias. Hayley's entire appearance in the middle of the DVD (I Dreamed a Dream and Pokarekare Ana duet) was shown uncut. But the trio "Now is the Hour" at the end was not shown. So none of Faye Tozer's contribution was shown, very strange. Nice promo for Russell and Hayley - roll on Sunday! Cheers, Dave |

Looks like this will be good Hayley's Live From NZ special on Sunday, good cross-promotion on ITV's part. Perhaps we'll see a surge in Odyssey's sale next week?
Wonder why Faye Tozer's part was taken out from the TV version, perhaps due to licensing issues? Although the live performance for her duets left much to be desired, being taken completely out of the programme and the credits seem a bit rude. At least they left Hayley's parts uncut!

Thanks Gerrit for the thoughts of providing those links. I'm pleased to say my copy arrived Saturday (amazon.co.uk and only £5.93--but be careful what you order there is a later disk looking very similar) and I've been looking for the moment to play and sit back and thoroughly enjoy.
The Pokarekare Ana I recall as being earlier available on this board and being totally enchanted by it. I'm looking forward to the full DVD quality of playing that. I felt so great for her seeing the wmv file I downloaded and regularly played it. I'm grateful for the availability of the DVD being brought to my attention.
it must have been such a wonderful experience for her. Was it Richard who said he thought he saw Jill in the front row? She must have been thrilled and so proud of her daughter.

Hello Peter! Yes, you can see two shots of Jill towards the end of the concert, the first where she is watching the fireworks, and the second during the standing ovation. Tashi pointed out to me that there is a shot of Gerald, Sophie and Isaac earlier on, somewhere near "Volare". There is an empty seat next to them, so Jill was probably backstage with Hayley. Moved from the "Memories of meeting Hayley" thread: I don't quite know where to put this post, but the mods can relocate if they see a better place. I would have placed it under 'Nostalgia' but that was placed under Miscellaneous and possibly became amalgamated as I could not find such a thread, although I did pick up the notice (26th August 2006) about the re-organisation. So, yes, mods, I do try and follow procedure!
However, this will do and what was it I wanted to say? Simply, that last night, while in bed and not sleepig, I decided to play the Russell Watson DVD I acquired some time ago but hadn't yet got round to viewing. It is the Aukland open air concert where Hayley comes on for a couple of songs including a duet with Watson and at the finale.
I noticed the copyright notice was 2002. Five years ago. She wasn't yet 15, or perhaps, just by a few months only. This was the 'schoolgirl' Hayley, but on that stage there was nothing schoolgirlish about her. Already her maturity was showing.
It is horrifying to think on how much has passed in so short a time and to realise that she has moved on so far, her early years are already cause for feelings of nostalgia, of a time passed by.Yet the Hayley today was already showing in the Hayley then and especially when we are just viewing the latest portraits of her for her third international CD. All the promise in those early (and earlier) years has blossomed into the beauty of a very lovely young woman who is going to have yet another super year of being Hayley, having fun and bringing great sunshine and the warmth of her love and humanity to so many more people, yet again..
God Bless You, Hayley Westenra, you are indeed deserving
