An update on Odyssey in the supermarkets, well Tesco anyway. Stuart said earlier that his branch had it at no. 20 and indeed, my nearest branch had it there too - but their chart includes compilations some of which were higher than Odyssey so it's really several places better than that. A bit further away is a bigger Tesco Extra where they have a top 100 artist albums separate from compilations but oddly, they have it at no. 22. The really good thing though is that since I checked on Monday evening, one Tesco had sold all but one copy and the other had sold all but four copies. Odyssey was, and you could see it from the nearly empty racks, one of a handful of the biggest sellers of the week so far - at Tesco. The problem will come if they now start running out of stock, I don't know if they will get in any extra deliveries this week as normal because tomorrow is... Good Friday. This could hit Odyssey's final chart position for the week so let's hope the delivery drivers are working normally on Friday, like the Supemarkets are. Odyssey has never been above no. 21 at Amazon UK this week and currently it's at no. 55. This is still well ahead of Russell Watson (at Amazon) but frankly, Amazon aren't the best guide to how well Odyssey's doing this week - neither is HMV. The supermarkets and general stores like Woolworths are where all the "Hayley" action is happening. Dave

UK Supermarkets: The new ASDA (Walmart) album chart! I mentioned somewhere that two weeks ago, after the Classical Brits, all the shops pushed up Odyssey in their in-store and online charts, some into the top 20. They were right - it did reach no. 20. But ASDA dropped it to no. 64 - a basic and obvious error. Well ASDA must have had their fingers burnt because last week, they shoved Odyssey up to about no. 25, and this week they've just pushed it up again, to NUMBER 12. This is totally unrealistic as far as the official charts are concerned but I assume that ASDA have a good reason for it (or an incompetent buying Manager ) My guess is they ordered a lot of stock too late... and now need to clear it so watch out UK people, for some possible Odyssey advertising and/or or price cuts by ASDA this week! This would obviously help Odyssey in next week's official chart i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers, Dave

Everyone else seems to have Odyssey around the 30 area and £9.97 or more. ASDA Bargain! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifDave

I frequent the big CD stores in my hometown . And I can honestly tell you this . For the past 2 years , Hayley's 2 int'l albums (Pure and Odessey ) has NEVER dropped out of the top 20 in the classical chart . So You can see how well our lady is doing .

Hi Dave, That is very pre isn't it? Do you usually see anything in the pre-release chart as early as this? Appearing at No 2 is a very hopeful sign. And let's remember, there may be Ten Tenors but there is only ONE Hayley Westenra! Roger

Well everyone, Following the addition of the Treasure promo video to Amazon UK today, the album has shot up from the 900s to... no. 202 in the overall rankings and no. 5 in the overall classical rankings. Possibly even more importantly for sales, it is no. 18 in the main pre-release chart at Amazon UK. Four weeks before release! It will bounce around I am sure but this is good news! Cheers, Dave

Hello folks! This is looking very promising for Hayley. With over three weeks still to go, 'Treasure' could climb even higher, so get your orders in, everybody. Don't forget all your families and friends! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Hello everyone. I see that after slipping a bit, Treasure has today reached its highest ranking to date at Amazon UK - no. 6 in their main classical chart, no. 15 in their main prerelease chart, and no. 185 overall. Hayley is currently much higher than Russell Watson - although he is released a week later. It's encouraging though and long may Hayley's Amazon climb continue! Dave

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the charts updates. For no particular reason, it is the Prerelease chart that interests me at the moment. What position would you expect an album to be 14 days prior to release (perhaps for Bryn or Katherine, for example)?

Hello Roger! I don't keep records of the other singers' Amazon rankings but I have certainly seen them (well Katherine anyway) well up in the top 5 of the pre-release charts and knocking on the door of the main Amazon top 10 rankings (probably inside it) in the few days prior to release. If Treasure keeps climbing at its present rate it could be well up there too by next week... but what i am looking for is a gradual climb up the overall rankings, with a new "highest position" established every few days. Fingers crossed! Cheers, Dave Edit:Currently at Amazon UK (23:26 GMT) Treasure is: Overall no. 82 Prerelease no. 6 Classical no. 2 Oh yes!

In the Chart News threadSaw Natasha Marsh on "Loose Women" yesterday. Sounds like Hayley may have some competition in the chart ! Thanks Jeff, that explains why Natasha got above Hayley in the Amazon UK rankings yesterday... she was on TV! However, today Hayley is back above Natasha - and Natasha is much closer to release date than Hayley. Currently Hayley is: 78 overall (she's been higher) 8 pre-release overall (been higher) 2 classical (= highest) all of which are higher than Natasha. However, you need to view Amazon rankings with a pinch of salt, Ludovici Einaudi has been above both Hayley and Natasha for several days now but of course, he won't get anywhere near as high when the real charts are published. In the real charts, Hayley will be placed much higher than both the others. Just watch Hayley zooooooom upwards after her GMTV appearance next week! Cheers, Dave
