I was sort of expecting Mark Forrest to play On My Heart in yesterdays CFM chart show, but he didn't, he played the last two tracks on the album. In fact there was a snatch of Odyssey on that show I heard from the kitchen but only three seconds or so and I'm not sure in what context - could have been the ones that have dropped out of the chart, it was fairly early on in the programme. So it seems Hayley might have been mentioned even if she is no longer in the chart under her own name. Let's hope she is back next week!

Hello everybody! Jonathan Ansell's 'Tenor at the Movies' has slipped to No.7 in this week's Classic FM Chart, but Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' has stayed at No.1 for the second week. Latest chart: www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563&spid=10079They've got the date wrong yet again! Richard

Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' is at No.1 in the Classic FM Chart for the third consecutive week, and Jonathan Ansell's 'Tenor at the Movies' is back up two places at No.5. If you click on the link in the previous post you'll see the date's still wrong! Richard

Hello everyone, I nearly forgot to mention this, the new no. 1 album in the UK Classical Compilation Chart (Various Artists Albums) is: New Classical Generation 2008 20% of which is by Hayley. This is the short sampler/extended play album discussed in this thread here and Hayley's track is Lascia Ch'io Pianga. It will probably be in the top 5 in the Classic FM Chart on Saturday. So although Hayley currently has no solo albums in the main UK classical charts, she still has one or more tracks on four other albums in the chart: Mike Oldfield Jonathan Ansell New Classical Generation 2008 No. 1 Classical Album 2008. In the US, Celtic Treasure is up from 23 to 19 in the Classical Crossover chart after 56 weeks. Mike Oldfield is up 1 place at no. 12 in that chart with Music of the Spheres. Mike entered at no. 10 three weeks ago but failed to enter the Billboard 200. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave & thanks, Very interesting. The American Chart particularly! She just has to win Classical Brits A of the Year to keep all that humming. Graeme

Hello all, It doesnt really surprise me that MOTS didnt crack the Billboard 200, as Oldfield is sort of old news here....to the extent he was ever really news at all. This is the kind of observation which has gotten me into trouble before, because it sounds more negative than I mean it to be, Nevertheless with the tact and sensitivity for which I am beloved, I will make it anyway It is probably inevitable that many of the biggest collaborations Hayley has done involve people who had a higher profile in the past than they do now. Oldfield is an obvious example of this, but I think that a case can be made for Horner as well (though to a somewhat lesser extent). These things are nice, safe ways for Hayley to get work - but I think they may also serve to lower her commercial potential over time For this reason. I would like to see her also do collaborations with younger composers and artists even if they were largely unknown. It is one way to offset the concern above because with a little luck one or more of these people will become the "next" Oldfield or Horner. It would be nice to see her name involved in a stock which was actually rising...... Graeme, I dont think we are talking about very many sales at that level in the American crossover chart. Still, I do have a strong sense that Celtic Treasure has actually outsold her previous work here by a fairly solid amount (feel free to correct me if I am wrong Dave.....) Jon

Hello everybody! It's all good news for Hayley in this week's Classic FM Chart. 'The New Classical Generation 2008' five track compilation is the highest new entry at No.6, and Mark Forrest eventually played 'Lascia Ch'io Pianga' after a frantic search for the CD. He must have been in a panic, because he forgot to switch his microphone off and kept talking to his producer while he was playing Katherine Jenkins at No.5! Jonathan Ansell's 'Tenor at the Movies' is up a place at No.4, and Mike Oldfield's 'Music of the Spheres' is still at No.1 for the fourth consecutive week. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifLatest chart: www.classicfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=251563&spid=10079The date's still wrong! He must have been in a panic, because he forgot to switch his microphone off and kept talking to his producer while he was playing Katherine Jenkins at No.5! Richard Thanks for all that Richard, I had dipped into my recording of the show for the last half hour (while he was playing the "hot shot" song after Katherine) and I'd never have guessed what happened 5 minutes earlier if you hadn't mentioned it - but I've listened to it now and it was hilarious! It also gave an interesting insight into "behind the scenes" at Classic FM - the problem seems to have been that this new CD hadn't been "ripped" (as he described it) into their electronic system so he had everyone running around searching for the physical CD "it'll be sitting on someone's desk". Now that takes me back to my office working days It rather spoiled Katherine's song but I enjoyed the chatter even more (sorry Katherine fans!) and I think this may be the one and only time I could get away with posting a complete recording so I'll have a think about that. I'll tell you what though, Mark Forrest stayed as calm as a cucumber - I'd have been yelling and banging desks! Cheers, Dave

Hello Dave! I think you could post the complete recording of Katherine's song, but to be fair to Mark Forrest, you should also include the apology that he broadcast towards the end of the show. Apparently he was inundated with emails after his blunder! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRichard

I think this may be the one and only time I could get away with posting a complete recording so I'll have a think about that. Excellent idea Dave, as long as it doesn't upset Mark Forrest. But then, I assume it will be available on listen again anyway, so what would be the harm? I agree with Richard though, the apology should be included. Best wishes Grant

Thanks Richard and Grant, I've edited down the last 45 minutes of the Chart show to 14 minutes which includes all the chat, the apology and about 30 second extracts from the songs including Hayley. I've included Mark Forrest's "rap duet" with Katherine in full, it's near the start. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifClassic FM blooper - Mark Forrest (14 minutes, 48kbps, 4.85MB). Thanks for the chart show clip Dave! Mark Forrest was very calm, so the blooper could have been much worse! He did vow to play more of Katherine Jenkins' songs on next week's chart show to make up for this Joe

Thanks for the link Dave. I was listening in this morning too. Poor Mark Fforest - it was funny though - and he did keep very calm - I would have been so panicking. Great news about the New Classical Generation EP going in at No 6 - and lovely to hear Hayleys song played. And I'm very pleased Tenor at the Movies is hanging on in the top 5! Love Melody xx

Thanks Dave Just finished listening to the clip - beautifully put together I might add  and very funny. Also an interesting insight into the 'behind the scenes' working of a radio station. We often say how we enjoy watching Hayley 'work' as opposed to perform occasionally and that was a superb example of a presenter facing his programme falling down around his ears, yet having the utmost faith in the wayward CD being located! Did I detect a catch in his voice when he came on air after Katherine? If so, could that have been the moment he discovered the error? All I can say is "Well held Mark!!" Best wishes Grant

Hi, I think Dave's site must be down now as I can't download it, or get directly to the site. Graham p.s downloaded successfully at 21.43, I am just about to listen to it.
