Hi Dave,
if you don't mind doing it, I think a sales thread could be very enlightening. Even though the figures there would more often than not be our estimate rather than actual figures, it would still give us what I reckon would be a ball-park figure.
Cheers, Keith.

OK Keith, give me a few days to get it all together. I've been thinking about this anyway, for a while

The fall to 3 in the US Classical Crossover chart doesn't necessarily mean sales are dropping because the no. 2, Bond's new CD, has entered the Billboard 200 at 76. Mario Lanza at last hits the top in the UK's Classic FM Chart! But the big shock is the new no. 3 "Classic Football Scores", a compilation featuring the classical originals, from which football (soccer!) chants are derived. Wow! .

UK Classical Artist Chart - latest top 10There isn't much happening at the moment in the charts so I thought I'd post the latest top 10 UK Classical Artist CDs (27th June 2004). Not much change from last week!
TW (LW) 1 (1) Mario Lanza - The Definitive Collection 2 (2) Hayley Westenra - Pure (41 consecutive weeks in the top 2) 3 (3) Amici Forever - The Opera Band 4 (4) Katherine Jenkins - Premiere 5 (5) Bryn Terfel - Bryn 6 (6) Karl Jenkins - The Armed Man - A Mass For Peace 7 (7) Ludovico Einaudi - Echoes - The Collection 8 (8) Andrea Bocelli - Viaggio Italiano 9 (9) Emma Johnson - Voyage 10 (14) St Johns College Choir/robinson - Elgar/sacred Choral Music
[/Size] I won't know if Pure remained in the UK top 200 pop chart for a couple of days (174 last week). Full charts update Thursday.

New UK Classical Artist Chart - 4th July 20041. (1) Mario Lanza - The Definitive Collection 2. (2) Hayley Westenra - Pure (42 weeks in top 2)3. (6) Karl Jenkins - The Armed Man, A Mass for Peace... 4. (3) Amici Forever - The Opera Band It's unlikely that Pure is in the UK pop chart (top 200) this week, I'll know in a couple of days time. Mario Lanza's sales are now falling and he's out of the pop chart top 75 - soooo it's possible Hayley will get back to the Classical top spot in a week or two's time. You've gotta watch that Armed Man though, oh yes!

Singles 2 (2) 1 32 Updated (A Korean artist is top)[/PRE][/SIZE] In the UK Classic FM chart, 7 out of the 8 albums above Hayley are compilations or soundtracks - Mario Lanza is the other artist, at no. 2. This explains the huge discrepancy between Hayley's chart position in the UK Classical Artist chart (this is also how the UK pop chart is compiled) and the Classic FM chart (which includes everything).

New UK charts and latest US. Amazon chartUK: Pure is down to 4th in the new UK Classical Artist chart. This is the first time Pure has been out of the top 2 since it was released 10 months ago (44 weeks). US: I thought it would be interesting to list the top few positions in the current CD sales rank at Amazon.com. This is the best that Hayley's three CDs together have ever done at Amazon.com . Thanks to Hayley's appearance on CBS today, the word continues to spread... and this should get Pure back in the Billboard charts, soon. A couple of hours before Hayley's CBS appearance, Pure was ranked 666 at Amazon - three hours later, it was top! www.amazon.com Top Sellers Sunday July 18 2004, 6pm EST ( updated at 11pm EST). ------------------------------------------------ 1. Pure ~ Hayley Westenra 2. License to Chill ~ Jimmy Buffett 3. That's for Me ~ Susie Arioli 4. De-Lovely [SOUNDTRACK] ~ Various Artists 5. Bebel Gilberto ~ Bebel Gilberto 6. Feels Like Home [ENHANCED] ~ Norah Jones 7. Hayley Westenra [IMPORT] ~ Hayley Westenra 8. Closer ~ Josh Groban ------------------------------------------------ 19. My Gift to You [IMPORT] ~ Hayley Westenra

US Charts update - Pure
Nearly four days after Hayley's appearance on CBS, Pure is still doing well in the charts we have access to. It is 9th. at Amazon (same as yesterday), 2nd. at Barnes & Noble and is still in the itunes top 100 album downloads (83rd).
This is very good news for Hayley's chances of a Billboard 200 re-entry, probably next week.

No other album in the current chart has more than 4X platinum: Hayley has 11X.
US: There are signs of a sales increase this week (up to 3 in the crossover chart) but no sales after last Sunday (CBS day) are included in this week's chart. Should do much better in next week's chart.
Curent position at Barnes & Noble: 2nd. And at Amazon: 19th..

This is great news, Dave. Let's hope that, this time, she stays in the chart for some considerable time. It's about time our American friends were going out in force to buy her album. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifKeith.

Singles 6 (2) 1 33 After 32 weeks(!), A.G. finally drops out of the top 3.[/PRE][/SIZE] This was a good week for Hayley in North America. US: Hayley has again re-entered the Billboard 200 (as she does after every major TV appearance!) and is again up to 2 in the crossover chart.
For the second time, Pure has entered the Billboard Top Ten for Internet album sales of physical CDs. This was predictable by Hayley's chart positions last week at Amazon & Barnes and Noble; Hayley's US fanbase really do seem like buying on the Internet far more than most other groups of CD buyers. My guess is the demographics - mostly older people (well not young, anyway) who simply don't visit record shops much.
Canada: Pure regains it's highest classical chart position - presumeably due to Hayley's appearance in the Lord if the Rings Symphony, Ottawa and attendant publicity. Maybe Hayley's CBS show was available in parts of Canada, too?
*edit on 6th aug 2004: corrected A.G. chart position in Japan to 6
