Hi Joe,
Thanks for the links to the two videos. They are terrific.
I sort of lost interest in the Cottars when the line-up changed but they still sound pretty good. Are there not still two original members? I only recognised one. Who is the guy on the keyboards? His voice sounded very familiar but I didn't recognise him. Maybe I'm just out of touch!

Hi Joe Great stuff! Particularly, "The Season of Holy and Ivy". I have never seen or heard the Cottars before (I lead a sheltered life ) but their music and style brings back many enjoyable memories of being a keen folk music fan back in the sixties and seventies. Simon and Garfunkel got me started but then as a student I became particularly interested in British folk music and visited many folk clubs here in the UK. In fact, I recall seeing a young Paul Simon in a club in Porstmouth and thought then he might make a career out of folk music! Other favourites of mine were the Pentangle, John Martyn, Steeleye Span and perhaps more commercially orientated, the Seekers. Anyway, I think I might just look out for The Cottars albums. Best wishes Martin

Roger Hi Roger, Yes there are the two original members - lead singer Fiona MacGillivray and her brother Ciaran on the keyboard (he just turned 21 on Sunday). The fiddler is Claire Pettit. The only American and from New York State. She's also a top cross-country runner at college. On the guitar is Bruce Timmons. He's shared the stage with Roger Whitaker and more recently Anne Murray. As well as visiting my forum for the group , visit their MySpace at www.myspace.com/cottarsmusicYou can find a few of their CD's on eBay...if not, let me know Cheers, Joe

Thanks for the information, Joe. I can't believe that is Ciaran - he looks so different! But I did say I was out of touch! Roger Whitaker? OMG, I remember him from the sixties! 'Durham Town' and 'Mexican Whistler' etc! I didn't even know that Anne Murray was still going. She sang 'Snowbird', yeah? I have just opened another browser session and am listening to some Cottars tracks on their Myspace page as I type. Even after all this time, I could still end up ordering another of their albums! Btw, in another two days, this thread will automatically be off topic! Roger

I was lucky to watch Holiday Festival on Ice today at 5 PM.
It also aired on WNBC (New York City) at 4 PM.
Check your local channel listings for any more American channels who broadcast this!
