Hi Keith,
I know you have the CD "Made In Cape Breton". Perhaps you (or anyone) can answer some questions. The songs "Scarlet Ribbons" and "Here's To Song" feature a male voice in addition to Fiona's. Is this male voice her father Allister?
Also have you the lyrics for "The Coulin"? Fiona sings some of the words in Gaelic.
Finally on "The Captain Campbell Medley",tunes run together. Were you able to tell when the last four songs in the medley ends/starts?
Lookng forward to more news from the Mac G's !

Hi Joe,
I don't actually have The Cottars album Made In Cape Breton. I am expecting it to arrive pretty soon. So, at the moment, I can't answer your questions.
When I can, I will come back to this thread and let you know.
Keith.

Hi all,
One of the young lads in the group is called Ciarán MacGillivray. Can anyone (perhaps Emmett) give me the pronunciation of "Ciarán"? I'm thinking its "Keer-an".

Hi Joe, I think that is close enough. Possibly Kee-a-ran. But, no doubt Emmett can put us right on that one. Keith.

Hi Keith, I've visited some sites regarding Irish Gaelic names; but all give different answers on how to pronounce "Ciarán". I've decided to more or less go with your suggestion of "Kee-a-ran". There's definitely three syllables and a strong 'a' sound in the middle syllable I'm just hoping that I can get all of their names right when I meet them in three week's time!

Hi Joe,
When you get to meet them, do three things for me. First, make sure you have a really good time and, second, don't forget to mention the support of HWI and, third, thank them very much for the gift they sent me. It really is appreciated very much. And if you get to meet Bev McGillivray, thank her too, please.
Then, all we need is to hear all about it.
Cheers, Keith.

Hi Keith, I shall do all that and more ! I plan on wearing my HWI sweatshirt. I'm trying to find pics of Allister and Bev McG. I'm glad to hear that they sent a gift to you. What did they send you, an autographed bodhrán? I sent the group an e-mail saying that I will see them perform on 27th Aug. Plus I've included a link to this sub-board so they can all have a look.

They sent me a signed 10 by 8 photo and BOTH their albums - one of them signed as well.
If anyone hasn't got their albums, I would very strongly recommend them, especially to those who like Celtic style music. The Cottars have to be among the best proponents of this genre for many years. And their youthful enthusiasm is addictive.
Keith.

Thanks Emmett for the proper pronunciation! Hopefully I'll meet the group so I wanted to get his name correct. I printed out The Cottars' pics so I hope to have them signed.
That's great Keith that you got such nice gifts. When you listen to the CD's you'll have to tell me your favourites!
Great job guys.
Joe

Hello Nicola! "On Fire" is definitely by the Cottars as described here. You can read the full tracklisting of this album by looking at the Discography section on this sub-board. See you at Hayley's concert in St. James's Church, Piccadilly next week! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard
