It may have been the coldest town in New Zealand today (19 Degrees Celsius) but in the theatre it was boiling and that was not just the heat but the way Fiona played and how the audience reacted. Especially since a lot of the people are friends, relations or are fans like me and Belinda who I sat beside for the evening.
Fiona played a lot of new material which was excellent. Luckily Belinda wrote all the songs down as I have already forgotten the names of most of them. She did start with a song she wrote for the Harbourlight Theatre called Harbourlight Magic. One song I loved was her version of the Saber Dance which the band were nervous about playing but they played it brilliantly. The usual band members were there but Misha was the guitarist this time which was great as I have heard all about him but I have never seen him play live before.
She mentioned that in May next year they are going to Prague to record her new album with the Prague Symphony Orchestra which should be excellent. Later when Belinda and I were talking to Fiona I mentioned she should record the Saber Dance with the orchestra and she said she is so that is great news.
Fiona wore a stunning red dress that Belinda might describe better than me but it would give Hayley a bit of competition.
She did mention that she loved the audience and that we were better than that in the UK (lol) maybe because we were clapping away and having fun, Fiona certainly was having fun on stage and she said she has given up trying to wear shoes on stage.At the end of the concert she did two encores as we applauded so much that she had to keep coming back.
At the end of the concert Ian came other and thanked us (especially Belinda) for coming. He said it was really hot on stage. He also said Fiona will be playing in KeriKeri and in the winery tours which was great news. Later Fiona came other and signed my DVD I bought of the Cathedral concert last February.

The new DVD was shown in an 8 minute segment before the concert and it looked and sounded stunning. So you all must get a copy when you can. I am having a quick look at it now and it does look great. It also includes the music video of Martin and Mary which I appear in and it was funny looking at me trying to dance. Well thats all for now I need some sleep. I am sure Belinda will give a report as well.

Also be prepared to enjoy yourself,
Fiona performed to a full house.
Fiona and band did a fantastic job of entertaining us.
As Ross said shoes off from the start, Fiona said she heard the DVD playing and the bit saying it was time for her shoes to come off
she then decided she was not going to wear them at all.
Fiona wore a red sunfrock style dress with a glittery pattern

And we are glad to see her and Ian .
The stage had Material draped at the back which looked very effective and lots of lights .
Ross and i had a great view sitting on Bar stools(very High) so no one blocked our views.
I did not have a camera and Ross didn't either but some pics were taken i think for the press.So we will post them when we see them
I spoke to Ian at the interval up at the bar, he was getting a tray of glasses of water, i saw two more trays of water follow
so i guess they were very thirsty.
I think he said the lights were like the heat of Brunei
where they had just come back from .
Fiona said it was an interesting experience all the woman in veils.
They started with Harbour Light Magic a song dedicated to the venue Fiona mentioned she had performed there for i think it was 12 years.
Next was Memories of Home
Tangoismo not sure how to spell that
Memory's of Martin and Mary was the next and Fiona asked us had we heard the story before and a lot said yes so she said she would give us the short version
She also said she would like to try and find Martin and Mary

Willow tree was next she dedicated it to her friend Wendy
whom i remember meeting after the Concert at the Great Hall not this year but last.
The next one I'm not entirely sure about i can't read my own writing

Tchavolo Swing then there was
Pipers Son that Fiona had written just before Shepherds Bush it started off Classical but she could not help herself so the beginning is classical and the rest is more Irish jig i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

That was followed by Far away and Tenderly she dedicated this one to her mum and all mums i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
Firefly was another favourite with the audience as was Cinema Paradiso.
as Ross mentioned she is very excited about going to Prague to record .
for the next album,although some work will be done with her NZ band before she goes back .
At the end of the evening Fiona and band did
The Saber Dance which was awesome and i can't wait to hear that on a CD.
At the end i saw Ian shake his hands as it was pretty fast. and the rest of the band looked like they thought phew glads thats over .
They tried to leave the stage but we all made so much noise they came back and did Sweet Georgia Brown.
Then they left the stage everyone clapped banging on furniture till they came back and did Dark Eyes.
Finally we let them finish
A had a fantastic time and after the show it was topped off by having a nice chat with Ian and then Fiona.

The typeface used on Fiona's DVD is almost identical to the one used on Hayley's Walking In the air.

I wonder if it was done by the same person or was it just a coincidence ?

Wow - what a fantastic concert and what a wonderful time you obviously had. Having seen Fiona flip off her shoes within minutes of the concert starting, I can just imagine the scene. As I read through the list of songs she performed, I realised just how many songs that I myself have heard Fiona perform over the last few years - via Hayley. I would love to go to one of her concerts.

It was great for you two to meet up for this concert. It certainly sounds quite hot over there at the moment - did you ever find out anything about the performance in Brunei by the way ?

It was nice of Fiona to give you a signed copy of the dvd. When you see Ian & Fiona again, maybe you could pass on my regards.

Hi Mark while it was only 19 degrees Celcius on Sat it was really hot in the theatre but on Sunday it was 28 degrees at the time of the concert so it must have been really hot inside.
From what I heard from Ian the concert in Brunei was some corporate affair so was a private function.
