classicfm :: mp apologises to soprano MP Peter Hain - Welsh Secretary in the last government - has apologised to soprano Katherine Jenkins after using her photograph on a campaign leaflet without her permission. The singer was said to be furious that a picture of herself and Mr Hain taken at an event had appeared on his election literature. Alongside the photograph, the leaflet promised Mr Hain would be a "strong voice for Neath and the Swansea Valley and a strong voice for Wales in Westminster". Mr Hain said the photograph 'was taken at a local event, she is from Neath and we are all very proud of her. I am sorry that this has become an issue.' 24 year old Miss Jenkins said that the photo implied her support for the party and Mr Hain when she has 'no political leanings whatsoever". Mr Hain held on to his Neath seat for Labour with a majority of more than 12,000.

Last night at 6pm Katherine performed her 19th weekly lockdown concert on Facebook live. www.facebook.com/KJOfficial/videos/494287721530891/I've said before mezzos are not really to my taste but it shows what can be achieved by a singer who really wants to engage with her fans despite having 2 young children to raise. Still, never mind, us Hayley fans can always look at photos of her cat !

Still, never mind, us Hayley fans can always look at photos of her cat ! Hi Jeff, Hats off to Katherine Jenkins for all she does, but “lockdown concerts” are not for everyone. Some artists may feel uncomfortable about delivering these. It would appear that Hayley has been going through a really difficult time, not only in her professional career but also in her personal life too. If you ask me she is still picking up the pieces and she is trying to put on a brave face as she tries to establish her identity with her new music. As you know, Hayley is a bit of a perfectionist and she won’t want to deliver anything short of brilliant with her new ventures. For now I guess we must all remain patient. Andrew
