Here are the links to this weekend's anthems (click the pictures to download or play:: Main game: U21 game: With thanks to Dave for supplying the the video from the U21game (which also does include the French anthem, as the commentators were commentating at the beginning of that anthem that Holly would replace Katherine at the Millennium stadium - a nice little touch which I preferred to keep in the video!) Unfortunately, it seems there was something wrong with the microphone feed of the singing to the TV broadcast at the main game - yet Holly's voice was clearly discernible - and beautiful. Gerrit

Congratulations to both Gerrit and Dave for at least an extraordinarily timely response even if the microphone mixing was Albert Hall standard!

Well done, Holly! You were wonderful, but too bad everyone had to join in on you. I'm used to American sporting events where the national anthem is a soloist show-off piece, not a crowd sing-along, and many fine performers first get noticed this way.

I don't think it's advisable to take up rugby at my time of life! It was great to see Holly performing at these events but, as has already been observed, what a shame that she had to compete vocally with everyone else in the stadium. Roger

Hi All, Well, I have a nice little Dutch treat for you. Highlights of the last day of the 6 nations tournament were shown on a Dutch sports programme - and they concentrated on the Wales v. France game. They did pay some attention to the anthems as well, as a result of which Holly made her debut on Dutch TV today .... Again, you can click the picture to dowload or play (I'm a bit hard of hearing, Roger ) A translation of the Dutch commentary is supplied.
Translation of the Dutch clip It's the traditional highlight for rugby fans: the 6 Nations Tournament. And today, the tournament was decided. France is the favourite after last week's victory against England, and the French had to travel to the Millennium stadium in Cardiff today, to face Wales. Hans Briant reporting: The Marseillaise, sung with full conviction by the 7500 French who made the journey across to Wales, to this dreaded and renowned stadium. And the Welsh anthem, Land Of My Fathers. And when you play here, you're gettin scared in the dressing room below, because such singing is fantastic. Every Welshman can sing ...
