Hayley would be taking vacation, way down south (Christchurch NZ not Christchurch BH), prior to the Japan tour. This is good news as I was wondering with such a heavy concert schedule this year when Hayley was going to fit in a holiday! With more concerts to be announced is this going to be a record year for number of worldwide concerts? Martin Martin

That's a bit cryptic, Drew. If it means what I think it means, will you tell us the source of your information, please? Dave, would you expect anything other than cryptic from me. Hi Drew, Yes indeed but this time, you excelled yourself! At least our speculation now has a bit more meat on it. Such a plan might indicate that Hayley's commitments are so great that there is simply insufficient time this year for another "all-new" album (in addition to the Japanese album) to be produced... so what would be bad news for fans outside Japan may be very good news for Hayley herself. Cheers, Dave

Hi Drew, I have just posted a reply to Larry where I quoted my Grandfather. It makes me think of something my 'Grandmother' often said..."Oh you are a tease" I guess we will just have to wait patiently ! Graham

Hi guys,
When Hayley came over to meet us in the RAH at the end of the Classical Brits, she mentioned that she had some tracks to record soon so I took the opportunity of asking her if this meant that her next album in the UK would have some new material on it. She looked at me and thought for a moment before replying "yes, some!" then adding, with that disarming smile she has, "but I can't talk too much about it at the moment..."
So it sounds like a mixture of old and some new - and a September release date would of course tie in nicely with her newly reported trip to Afghanistan and no doubt, some media publicity about it.
However... "some" new material may not be sufficient to qualify it for next year's Classical Brits Album of the Year nominations, not even if it counts as a Classical Album.

Interesting, Dave but my money is on the lady calculating her numbers very carefully! After all, you and I were next to one another and the lady gave me a very meaningful look in response to a more specific question which you might not have heard.
It was a look that said, 'I'm looking at you kid. I'm saying nothing, you will carefully note. What you choose to interpret you choose to interpret. On your head be it... but then, I ain't saying you're wrong, am I?'! Peter S.

Does the possibility of "most" or "all" new material (which I think wasn't said) remain, after saying "some" (which was)? Cheers, Dave

I'd like to hear Hayley cover a song or two by 70'/80's progressive-rock band Renaissance. Most of the young 'uns probably have never heard them, but their lead singer, Annie Haslam, is a wonderful singer with a classically trained soprano. They even had a hit in the UK with "Northern Lights" in 1978. That would be a good one for Hayley. Could also hear Hayley doing a few others of theirs: "Ocean Gypsy", "Trip To The Fair", or "Carpet Of The Sun".
Also, I think the song "Stay With Me Til Dawn" by British singer-songwriter Judie Tzuke is one of the most beautiful songs that should be re-discovered.

It so happens that I played most of those tracks in the car on my way to work yesterday. I'm not sure how well they would suit Hayley's voice though. Annie was always all about power, and to my ears she often sounds slightly flat. Hayley is about subtlety, emotion and spirituality, and Hayley never sings flat. That means that she could perhaps have a go at something like "The Black Flame", but perhaps that is a bit too dark for Hayley (if you'll excuse the pun). Martin

Our member Northern Lights will be amused, I have this Renaissance song on a 12" single (Old analogue recording ) in beautiful blue translucent vinyl. The quality on 12" singles was quite incredible considering the sound was lifted off it by an electro-mechanical device called a stylus and cartridge, It's a wonder they worked at all we were discussing vinyl at Belinda's last chat. Sound recording and playback has come a long way since.... I was also a great admirer of Judie Tzuke, what an amazing voice.. I remember buying her first two singles the second one was "For you" and thinking wow this girl is gonna go far ...and then she just disappeared. I heard a sample of one of her songs re-mixed recently in another song. my son was kind of impressed when he heard the full original Oops and just to be on topic, I'd love to hear Hayley sing "For you" just for me...............

However, she loves a bit of teasing and she could have been saying, ;its the other one thats got the bells on, Peter!' Peter S. Hi Peter, From what Hayley wouldn't (or couldn't) say, from what I've heard and read over the last few days, and especially knowing the Japanese album is already a huge success over there, it would not surprise me one little bit if Hayley's next International album turns out to have a distinctly Japanese theme... This is guesswork on my part and I have no inside information - but it would answer quite a few questions that have been seriously puzzling me for the last few months. So I'm now going to stick my neck out and say I think that's exactly what will happen. If that is the case, I expect Universal to be making a final decision on it almost as I write, based on the success of the new Japanese Album (they may have waited until they knew). The numbers game, Peter? Well I think the numbers now add up... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifDon't shoot me if i'm wrong! Cheers, Dave
