Summer Fly Words And Music By: Cheryl Wheeler
In another younger day I could dream the time away In the universe inside my room And the world was really mine from june to september And if it wasn't really so I was lucky not to know And I was lucky not to wonder why 'cause a pure and golden high is all that I remember A summer fly was buzzin' every night When I was young In the gentle world my childlike senses knew And the world was just my cousin And the wind was just the tongue In the voice my lonely moments listened to And I look at me today all the dreams have gone away And I'm where I never thought I'd be Seein' things I never thought I'd see happen to me And I lay awake at night till the darkness goes to light Hearin' voices callin' out my name Dronin' over and again the same message to me Cryin' who's your partner, who's your darlin', who's your baby now? Who wakes up at night to pull you in It don't matter, you just make her lonely anyhow Don't know why you even try to win 10/28/79 (P) May 27, 2003 Penrod And Higgins Music / Amachrist Music ACF Music Group International Copyright Reserved

That sounds like a short classic. (Unless you know some more verses Thomas?)

Song: Summer Rain Lyrics:Belinda Carlisle
Whispering our goodbyes Waiting for a train I was dancing with my baby In the summer rain I can hear him saying Nothing will change Come dance with me baby In the summer rain I remember the rain on our skin And his kisses hotter than the Santa Ana winds Whispering our goodbyes Waiting for a train I was dancing with my baby In the summer rain I remember laughing 'till we almost cried There at the station that night I remember looking in his eyes
Chorus Oh my love it's you that I dream of Oh my love since that day Somewhere in my heart I'm always Dancing with you in the summer rain Doesn't matter what I do now Doesn't matter what I say Somwhere in my heart I'm always Dancing with you in the summer rain
I can hear the whistle Military train I was dancing with my baby In the summer rain I can hear him singing Ooh "Love Is Strange" Come dance with me baby In the summer rain I remember the rain pouring down And we poured our hearts out As the train pulled out I can see my baby Waving from the train It was the last time that I saw him In the summer rain
Chorus
Everytime I see the lightening Everytime I hear the thunder Everytime I close the window When this happens in the summer Oh the night is so inviting I can feel that you are so close I can feel you when the wind blows Blows right through my heart
Chrous
Every night and every day now Though I know you've gone away Somewhere in my heart I'm always Dancing with you in the summer rain

Whispering Hope
Soft as the voice of an Angel Breathing a lesson unheard Hope with a gentle persuasion Whispers her comforting word
Wait, till the darkness is over Wait, till the tempest is done Hope for the sunshine tomorrow After the shower is gone Whispering hope Oh, how welcome thy voice Making my heart In its sorrow rejoice
If in the dusk of the twilight Dim be the region afar Will not the deepening darkness Brighten the glimmering star Then, when the night is upon us Why should the heart sink away When the dark midnight is over Watch for the breaking of day
Whispering hope Oh, how welcome thy voice Making my heart In its sorrow rejoice

Shenandoah ~~ Writer of Lyrics Unknown ~~
Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you. Away, you rolling river! Oh, Shenandoah, I long to hear you, Away, I'm bound away, 'Cross the wide Missouri.
The white man loved an Indian maiden, Away, you rolling river! With notions his canoe was laden, Away, I'm bound away, 'Cross the wide Missouri.
Oh, Shenandoah, I love your daughter, Away, you rolling river! For her I've crossed the stormy water, Away, I'm bound away, 'Cross the wide Missouri.
Farewell, my dear, I'm bound to leave you. Away, you rolling river! Oh, Shenadoah, I'll not deceive you, Away, I"m bound away! 'Cross the wide Missouri.

Hayley said (and she doesn't lie) that she had co-written some of the songs on the album. So for instance Summer Rain might not be Belinda Carlisle's version. It could be a song Hayley has co-wrote.

Well done Jon for posting the tracklisting! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI certainly recognise a few of the song titles, and if they are the songs I think they are this is going to be one of the best albums ever! Somehow I get a feeling that 'One Fine Day' is going to be the aria from 'Madame Butterfly', but I'm only guessing again. Now, who's going to be the first to find some samples? i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

The heart worships
Silence in Heav'n, Silence on Earth Silence within! Thy hush, O Lord, O'er all the world covers the din. I do not fear to speak of thee in mortal kind And yet to all thy namelessness I am not blind. Only I need and kneel again Thy touch to win; Silence in Heav'n Silence on Earth Silence within!

Hayley said that the new album was filmic, therefore I went for Carole King's "One Fine Day", soundrack for film of the same name. However, I did not realise that Puccini's version was used in the film "First Love". (I shall put my money on Carole King).
ONE FINE DAY Butterfly's aria from Act 2 of "Madame Butterfly" Music by Giacomo Puccini / Libretto by Luigi Illica & Giuseppe Giacosa As recorded by Deanna Durbin for the film "First Love" (1939)
Weeping? And why? And why? Ah, 'tis faith you are lacking Hear me One fine day we'll notice A thread of smoke arising on the sea In the far horizon And then the ship appearing Then the trim white vessel Glides into the harbour Thunders forth her cannon See you? Now he is coming I do not go to meet him Not I I stay upon the brow of the hillock And wait there And wait for a long time But never weary of the long waiting From out the crowded city There is coming a man A little speck in the distance Climbing the hillock Can you guess who it is? And when he's reached the summit Can you guess what he'll say? He will call, "Butterfly" from the distance I, without answering Hold myself quietly concealed A bit to tease him and a bit So as not to die at our first meeting And then, a little troubled He will call, he will call "Dear baby wife of mine, Dear little orange blossom" The names he used to call me when he came here This will all come to pass as I tell you Banish your idle fears For he will return Return

Your turn now Dave, I'm exhausted. I won't be posting any lyrics until we know which songs and which versions are on Hayley's album. We can all remember from Odyssey that even when we have positively identified which songs they are, there are often different versions of the lyrics as well as different verses being included. I think we should wait until we know which songs and versions they are before we post more lyrics, it's just going to clutter up the thread and no-one will know which ones are right and which are wrong. By all means speculate on which version of the songs they are but to post lyrics at this stage largely based on guesswork is a bit premature, don't you think? Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave, Yes, with the traditional songs, it may well be 8 or 9. But with several unfamiliar titles, it is hard to tell without considerable research. We then have the question of what constitutes traditional? Does it mean the song must be written by that most prolific of writers who goes by the name of Trad? Or does the song marely have to be above a certain age... like the musical equivalent of an antique? Roger Hi Roger, I don't think the age of the song is relevant here, but they have to be written by a "recognised classical composer" or, of course, 'trad' (if composer is unknown). Even Paul McCartney is, nowadays, a recognised classical composer Cheers, Dave

Ooh, the tracklisting looks very cool. I am only familiar with six or seven of the songs. But that's probably a good thing because I was only familiar with three of the songs on Pure! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif
