Anyone want to play the song title game? I'll start us off:
If you go walking in the air, you'll never walk alone.
I went down to the river, the river of dreams, and I could see through these eyes that the water is wide.
Listen to the wind... do you hear what I hear?
Morning has broken one fine day and it is sonny until the summer rain I love changes everything in Wuthering Heights.

That is very clever. I'm not sure if I can think of anything interesting with what's left.

Libby, this is all I ask of you: I say grace us with an unexpected song so that we will never say goodbye to the memory of our whispering hope, as we watch the last rose of summer fly across the universe of time.

Sonny, let me lie and listen to the beat of your heart. Here beside me, your bright eyes can see both sides now!
May it be just a memory of the mists of islay or a melancholy interlude?
Come over the rainbow and abide with me.

Now that I know who painted the moon black, I feel pretty amazing, Grace!
Mary, did you know that I dreamed a dream that we will, after dark, waltz over to Scarborough Fair?
God defend New Zealand from this peaches and creamy world.

I just HAD to try this! A letter to Sonny.
Dear Sonny,
I am always wishing you were somehow here again. Please let me lie, my heart and I, beneath the summer rain and among the mists of Islay. Tonight, may it be a prayer that here beside me will be a sweet memory and quietly I will hear a whispering hope, an unexpected song of how the heart worships across the universe of time. I will hear you saying “Oh bright eyes, you will never walk alone.” I will listen to the wind in hope that you will never say goodbye and are really walking in the air, swimming in the river of dreams, and dancing the mummer’s dance. If I listen carefully I will hear the beat of your heart and then I will truly know you will never say goodbye, even from Heaven. Sonny, I know you abide with me always so you should know my heart belongs to you.
With all I have to give, ‘Santa’ Lucia
<3 Caitlin

December 13, 2012 Islay
Dear Santa Lucia, I am lost in the mists of Islay. The mummers are out, and the last rose of summer left blooming alone is not yet here, but since I can't see (it's the darkest night, not even a star in sight)I am in this bleak world alone. Oh, Lascia ch'io pianga mia cruda sorte (Oh, how can I weep over my cruel fate).
that's all I can think of, and sorry Caitlin for kinda copying the idea!!

In this silent night, holy night, the mummer's dance has ended in Shenandoah. Dear Danny boy, she moves through the fair and she never saw blue like that thanks to your melancholy interlude. Well done Caitlin! I think that has to be the winner! What do you think Steve? Yes Grant, Caitlin's entry gets the blue ribbon! In fact, I never saw blue-ribbon material like that before!

I think everyone who made a contribution to this thread deserves a rowdy hand of applause. I think everyone made a sterling effort and the whole thread was very entertaining without too many (if any?) 'forced' manipulations. My knowledge just simply wasn't up to having a go so very well done for an entertaining and unusual thread. Peter S.

OK, time for me to have a go at this! There are 46 song titles. Mary, Did you know? I've read Gabriel's message. My heart belongs to you! Somewhere over the rainbow, between the sky, the dawn and the sun, somewhere. You are water down to the river Shenandoah. An unexpected song will flood my river of dreams one fine day. Whispering hope, I'm kissing you through these eyes. Wishing you were somehow here again. Here beside me; I've met Dido, a Spanish lady near Santa Lucia beyond the sea and the summer rain. What you never know won't hurt you, Mary. It was a silent night and we danced a dark waltz for the bridal ballad. I learned it was Danny Boy who painted the moon black. Dido's lament is now a melancholy interlude as I say grace. Heavens above...do you hear what I hear? Morning has broken! But Mary, now is the hour. Love changes everything. That's all I've got to give to you - a memory. Time to say goodbye. You'll never walk alone. Looking at both sides now, all I ask of you is a prayer. Abide with me, Sonny Benedictus
