At the risk of sounding like a broken record, that's actually why I like a lot of Bruce Springsteen's songs. A lot of them are actually about everyday life - the uneventful and often mindnumbing reality of work, home, dinner, sleep, work, home, dinner, sleep and keep repeating.... on and on and on.... The trick is to find contentment in that sequence of life events. Rejoice that you have them. To millions of people that would be the dream life. People who don't get dinner and have never had a home. and maybe on the negative side they have people shooting at them and disease everywhere around them, with little hope of change in their circumstances in the future, except maybe for the worse. work, home, dinner, sleep, work, home, dinner, sleepThat can change all to suddenly and you could find yourself wishing for that life back again. Don't let it be mindnumbing. Find pleasure in the smallest of things, Imagine - If you could only listen to one song a day.

The folks in the pub on Coronation Street sang Close to You the other night, after Hayley Cropper's funeral service,
I wonder if it caused an increase in hits on Hayley Westenra's version on YouTube

Here are two very short videos of Hayley at the Rock of Ages Gala Premiere. Don't blink or you'll miss them! Richard

Hi,
I just found this video on youtube.
It's from a TV show about the Oliver! muscial. The second singer is Hayley, isn't she? Does anyone know whether she did just this song or more?

Hello Lena and Taylor! That video is an excerpt from 'Celebrate Oliver', broadcast on BBC1 TV on 26 December 2005, and you can read more about it HERE. If I remember correctly, Hayley only sang that one song. The original video of Hayley's performance is no longer available, so I've posted the 'new' video in the other thread. Richard

Ooh, that's a new one on me! But that is definitely Hayley. And I wasn't expecting Aled to show up as well! -Taylor And there, also, are The Choir Boys with whom Hayley has performed. Welcome, Lena. You are certainly off and running with a great start! BobS

What a video...Stunning performance by Hayley. Videos like this just remind me how good Hayley used to be when I'm struggling to accept the new voice and affirm myself that it's still as good and that she's still able to sing songs as such. They say you lose some you gain some, I can see what's lost, still not certain what's gained. The power, versatility that many claim has always been there, only better. I'll be glad that it's just me while people have grown to enjoy the new voice. I wish I was one of them, things wouldn't have been as difficult for me. It's definitely a delight to see unseen videos like this so thanks toirse, I'll only imagine that it's a current video

We'll see how March 28th goes in Dublin. The pre-wedding stress is gone, Hushabye is done and sorted. Conditions in the National Concert Hall are favourable for a potentially great concert.

I think that far too much emphasis is being placed on the singing style utilised in Hushabye. While now immortalised forever on an international studio release, in my view it was just a hurried snap decision made to try to 'revolutionise' a slab of cover songs. I found the way Hayley sung on Hana Wa Saku for the Japanese recordings to show that her proper voice is back. It's just about being given the right advice and guidance - which I think Ian Tilley gave her. I have also found that I much prefer the expressiveness that Hayley has developed in recent years - something that she has worke on since the earlier years.

Well there was nothing wrong with her voice at the Union chapel. And I'm sure there won't be at Dublin. Yes Hushabye didn't stretch her, i think we've said that before.

Her voice is usually amazing live, but there are many times when this does not quite translate onto a recording. I feel this is somewhat true of BOTW. Don't get me wrong, I love the recording too, but it's still not quite the same.
