I've just found a video of Youtube with Hayley singing, i think, the japanese version of Wiegenlied (not sure if that's the right spelling)...according to the description its a japanese movie version- has anyone seen this video before? it shows her singing it in the studio- maybe it's on her next japanese album?
Or on the other hand I may be completely wrong!!!

It looks like it was used as a soundtrack for a Japanese WWII movie. ...But is this a movie trailer or a music clip!?  They wrote Hayley's name wrong!!!  Is this movie recent? The song is indeed the Japanese version of 'Wiegenlied', and Hayley recorded it for the 2005 film 'Lorelei: The Witch of the Pacific Ocean'. The central theme in the film Lorelei, in which Wiegenlied appears, is a German U boat in Japan and several of the main characters are German. Yes, I know, that CD single was the only Japanese release that a year ago I manage to order even as an import here in Portugal.  All the others I bought them later at CD Japan. Nice job again Paulo for finding the video. It is certainly "Lullaby of Nemunoki".
The more you buy HSJS2 CD, the more the organization “Japanese Society for Disabled Children” gets money. It is not only Hayley and business related people / companies who get money. The copyright of the lyrics has been given to “Japanese Society for Disabled Children” by the Imperial Majesty Empress Michiko. So the money goes to the organization too. What a nice thought the Empress Michiko has done long time ago.
Hayley has selected this song and it also means that she will be helping disabled children in Japan. She is already helping children in Ghana and now she is about to help disabled children here too. What a nice selection she has done. Good for Hayley.

I didn't realise any of that, but it does make this an even more special song. I think it also highly likely that that is the reason Hayley choose to include it on her album - that would be typical of her caring nature and her love of children. We felt very privileged to hear it sung outside Japan for the very first time at Hayley's Llandudno concert and we all felt it to be a very beautiful song. Incidentally, on the set list there, it was written as "Nemu No Ki". Best wishes Grant |

'Wiegenlied' appealed to me the moment I heard it as it is the softest most 'easy on the ear' German I have ever heard. I can't recall whether Thomas ever posted on it regarding her German pronounciation but I feel (perhaps from chatting with him) that it was more than acceptable. Peter S. |
