Probably many of us have noticed it before, but we're too used to the lady's little cute mannerisms. So let's try listing out Hayley's mannerisms, especially when she performs on the stage.
An example is, whenever you see the lady perform, you always seem to notice her gaze is placed at a spot far far away, like she was contemplating. That is transcendental, yes?

One habit I find cute is when she checks the piano note A before singing an a cappella song. I suppose this assures her that her pitch will be okay, but then again, she's so perfect maybe she's really verifying that the keyboard is in tune!

I had a very detailed conversation with one who really knows about these things, one David Ponsford. More about him in a special thread which will be titled something like 'How do you follow Hayley?' as in 'other than with more Hayley'. I recall one concert when Ian Tilley was obviously unhappy with the piano. I can't recall which concert. Can anyone else remember? I wondered if he had been unhappy at teh rehearsal and specifically asked for the piano tuner to stay for the concert because during the interval the piano tuner came on and retuned a note or two at the upper end. It is very unusual (except perhaps at the Albert Hall and in such circumstances) to have a piano tuner immediately available during a concert. Peter S..

Hi everyone Steve, I remember one of the first Hayley concerts i attended, when she came back onto the stage for her encore and asked if she should perform Amazing Grace - the audience gave their seal of approval and as Ian had not come back on stage, Hayley made her way to the piano and said - "let me just find the note to start on". She hit one of the keys and then said " oh gosh, thats the wrong note - oh well it doesn't matter, I'll guess" How about another little habit - although I have'nt seen her do this recently - either that or I've got so used to it, I don't notice anymore i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Anyway, its when shes in the middle of a song and she will suddenly very gently sweep a few strands of hair away from her face with her right hand. Anyone else spot that one ? Mark

she will suddenly very gently sweep a few strands of hair away from her face with her right hand. Hi Mark Yes, I actually still look for that one - she did it at least once during the concert in Bath - can't remember noticing Croydon or Southampton, but I'm sure she did. Best wishes Grant

Hi Peter I think you are refering to last year's concert at Gawsworth Hall near Macclesfield. It was quite a damp evening and I can clearly remember the piano tuner working away during the interval. I think he might have been there again this year and I can clearly remember Fiona commenting on the weather affecting her violin at one point and Hayley telling the audience something similar whilst Mischa was trying to get his guitar retuned for Shenandoah! Best wishes Grant

When holding the microphone in her left hand, she always presses the thumb and first finger of her right hand together.

Yea I remember that too. Maybe it helps her to manipulate her voice/ breathing sequence better?
