Yesterday I introduced another aunt and cousins to Celtic Woman- my aunt says she likes Hayley!

No one I know listens to classical or my type of music, so to find someone to introduce to Hayley is a bit difficult, but alarm bells went off when I found my Aunt loved Katherine Jenkins. Katherine was her favourite artist, and I bought her some albums of Katherine, and got her an autograph from Katherine as well. Eventually I was looking at my CD collection, and noted that I had two versions of 'Pure'. One was my original one that I got when it was first released, and it was autographed, the other was a two disc edition. I never listened to the 2 disc edition so I thought I'd give to my aunt on the off chance she'd like Hayley. I gave it to her and told her she might like it. She had never heard of her and she told me she'd listen to it on the drive home. The next time I saw her she had forgotten who Katherine was, and it was all about Hayley! She had been out and bought all of her albums, and she said that Hayley was by far her favourite artist, and even preferred her to Katherine. I call it a success story. I tell the story, because it will be the only conversion I will ever make. I can't imagine anyone else I know liking Hayley or this type of music.

Hayley is virtually unknown here by all my friends- they're rock people, but sometimes we sing Christmas songs and songs that we make up- you don't want to hear those! Nicola, the only thing I don't understand about your storyy is how you could give up a copy of a Hayley album??

Hi Nicola, Even if you are not able to introduce Hayley's music to anyone else, it sounds as though your aunt may do. You might have started something bigger than you think! Roger

Roger Roger's right you know. You've introduced Hayley to your Aunt who may have friends who enjoy similar music to her and thus she will pass Hayley's name on. Word of mouth and reccomendation from a friend are wonderful things <3 Caitlin

You find that shocking? That's nothing, I gave her 'My Gift To You' and 'Hayley Westenra' as well, lol! I have no problem letting them go because a) I don't listen to them and b) I have them on my computer anyway. With the case of the 2 disc edition of Pure, I never grew to like it, even though it simply had more songs. The tracklisting was in a different order, and it even omitted some songs from the original Pure (which I had had for years). I was more comfortable and happy with my original disc so I thought I'd spread the love by giving away CDs that I had no further use from. I wouldn't give away my final copy of 'Pure' or 'Odyssey', I don't think I would give away 'Treasure' either. I did feel a bit empty after I gave those CDs away, so about a month later I rebought 'MGTY' and 'HW' even though I knew I didn't like them very much. Lol. Craziness. Roger, you are right. My Aunt introduced Hayley to my Uncle. The poor man didn't have a choice! Hee hee! I think my Aunt's favourite album ever is the 'Angelis' album from last year. I was vocal about my dislike of that disc last year, but they do do a brilliant version of Sarah McLachlan's 'Angel' and Enya's 'May It Be'. I think Hayley would record a gorgeous version of 'Angel' by Sarah McLachlan, thought I think Hayley would be vocally amazing on 'Fear' by the same artist. That song leaves goosebumps on my arms. But I think that's for another thread, so I'll repeat myself there, and perhaps provide a link to 'Fear' if I can find one.

I still can't believe a Hayley fan would give up an album, but ok! (No, not ok if I give up an album, it's her choice though!) Just out of curiousity, where did you get HW and MGTY??

I guess there are different kinds of fandom. I know exactly what you mean though. There are a lot of Sarah Brightman albums I don't listen to but I would never ever sell them. I just like to have them in my collection. But I have a bit of a generous heart and will ultimately give things away if I know they will be treasured more by somebody else. I had a really rare original single of Hayley's (Wuthering Heights with the original music video which was pulled from the shelves) but I had no use for it whatsoever, I didn't enjoy it, whilst there was so many people here that so badly wanted it. It's wasted on me, you see, so I let someone from this board have it and I know they are really happy to own that item. That makes a lot more sense to me than me just holding on to it for the sake of having it. As to the other two albums, I got them years ago from a NZ internet shop. When I gave them away last year I just bought them again from amazon.co.uk where those albums are now a lot more readily available.

If you have something that you know someone else will value more than you, and you don't mind parting with it, then let it go to a good home. You no doubt made someone very happy and I'm sure you got a lot of satisfaction from knowing that. Best wishes Grant

I suppose you're right, Nicola. However, I never would not enjoy it! Do you still have HW and MGTY?? I wouldn't mind getting them if you still do!

Well since I always have Hayley's book with me while I'm at school these days, friends of mine know about Hayley. But they just don't fancy the lady that much.

Hello everyone
I am very happy tonight 'cos I've just introduced another two great people to Hayley!!
Having been without a treasurer at church for almost a year, we now have a husband and wife team in the hot seat and I have recently submitted my church hall accounts to them.
I got home this afternoon from my day out to find an answerphone message requesting more information. In the conversation that ensued, hobbies came up and, of course, I mentioned Hayley. Noel had never heard of her.
After tea, I Emailed the requested info and, a few minutes later, followed it up with the Crystal Cathedral video of Hayley's "Abide With Me" (Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Right?)
Delighted to log on a few minutes ago to find a response from two very excited converts. I've just Emailed the link to HWI with some suggestions!
So, Noel and Gwen, if you should read this message "Welcome to HWI and the world of Hayley"
I recon that's a good evenings work, don't you?
Grant

Hello Grant, Wow - this is fantastic. I look forward to seeing your friends on HWI or maybe even at a concert? I'm always particularly interested to know which piece of music we choose when we want to introduce Hayley to someone who doesn't know her music.'Abide with me' is a nice choice - especially this wonderful recording at Crystal Cathedral. Well-done Grant! Lots of love Stephany
