The HWI April 2006 Competition is now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered. The answers are as follows: 1. Hayley's birthday is 10th April. 2. 'Walking In The Air' was the name of Hayley's first album (recorded for family and friends and used for promotional purposes. 3. Hayley become a UNICEF Ambassador in 2003.4. The five UK cities in which Hayley sang with Russell Watson during the spring of 2002 were Brighton, Cardiff, Glasgow, London (Wembley), and Newcastle. (Any 3 were accepted for 1 point each) 5. Hayley insisted that Wuthering Heights was included on Pure. 6. Hayley attended Burnside High School at the age of 14. 7. The honoured opera singer from New Zealand to give Hayley singing lessons is Dame Malvina Major.8. Teddy Tahu Rhodes sang 'How Many Stars' and 'Hine e Hine' during her New Zealand concerts on 15th and 16th August 2004 (the results of which can be seen on the 'Live from New Zealand' DVD!). 9. Steve Abbott is Hayley's manager. 10. The highest position achieved by PURE in the UK pop charts was number 7. As we expected, a large proportion of entrants throught it was #8. This is what Dave (our charts analyst) said just prior to the competition being launched: "Actually, that's a very good question and many people will get it wrong. This is because all the media reports refer to Hayley's first week in the chart when it entered at number 8. It slipped back a few places, but a few weeks later, rose again to number 7. " Dave's prediction was correct and only 6 people got it right. More than 40% scored an impressive 11 out of a possible 12, but only ONE person achieved the maximum. And so it gives me great pleasure to announce the winner. Congratulations go to.... Denise Robbins (UK) We will be in touch shortly Denise and, upon receipt of the necessary details, will send your prize. Many thanks to all who entered. Roger

Let me add my congratulations to Denise, the only person to achieve maximum points. Denise, you must be a truly dedicated Hayley fan and I hope that soon, you will be telling us how you did it! As Roger mentioned, I suspected that question 10 would be a problem for many people (although it wasn't my idea to include it) but in fact, the answer is in this very forum (Charts Board). To be precise, in all the weekly International Charts summaries that I posted last year and the year before. For the curious, here is the complete UK album chart run for "Pure" in 2003. It starts with the chart published on Sunday 21 September 2003 and ends with the chart published on Sunday 28th December 2003. 8, 8, 10, 8, 9, 11, 11, 13, 7, 18, 10, 11, 10, 12, 18. But why the big jump to number 7 that week? Well, Hayley appeared on BBC 1 TV singing "Tonight We'll Light A Candle" at the Royal Albert Hall in London, to the tune of "Pokarekare Ana", on Saturday November 8th. In the following week's chart, published on November 16th, Pure shot up from number 13 to its highest position of number 7. Oh, the power of a beautiful voice and a wonderful performance on National TV! A video of this remarkable performance is available here at HWIDave.

Congratulations to Denise Robbins ! Also thank you to all who entered our competition!
I had a go at those questions and only got one incorrect...
question 6... "Which school did Hayley attend at age 14?" I thought it was Cobham Intermediate School but it is in fact Burnside High School .

Thanks to everybody for taking part in the HWI competition, with only one person getting 12/12 this has made it easy for Roger ans Simon to pick a winner. :rollin
Congratulations Denise, you really know your Hayley trivia. well done and enjoy your prize!
I would like to thank both Simon and Roger for all their hard work. Managing a competition like this, for the benefit of the HWI members and guests takes many many hours of work, its only reward is bringing in new members to the site and forum and by seeing a good number of entries to the competition.
Competitions can only be worthwhile if they get the support of the membership, so my last 'Thank You' is to all those on the HWI Forum that took part in the competition.
This thread is the perfect place to add your thanks to the HWI team who made this happen.

Congratulations Denise, and I hope you enjoy your prize. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif I didn't know the answer to question 4, and I wasn't too sure of question 6 either. I didn't fall into the trap at question 10, but as I'm not eligible to enter the competition it didn't make any difference! I must add my thanks to Roger and Simon for all their hard work in running the competition. This is the way to make HWI the best Hayley fan site in the world! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Congratulations, Denise!
I grit my teeth and congratulate my wife for winning the competition. I will have to live with the humiliation forever knowing Denise knew more about Hayley than me! Thank you Roger and Simon for all your hard work.

My thanks to everyone for the positive feedback. However, there was someone else involved in the running of the competition without whom it would not have happened. That is our good friends Steve H.
It was Steve's idea that we should hold a competition at this time and he compiled the questions and kindly donated the prize. Simon and I had a little input (about 60 hours between us, I believe!). So, on behalf of both of us, I would like to thank Steve for all he did to make the competition possible.
Roger

wow!!Denise Robbins (UK) is so cool!!he's the winner!! congratulation !! *Though I didn't win in the competition,I really love it though.I used to think I know Hay very well.I found it I wasn't too sure about the answers while doing that.I was doubtful whether they were correct. Finally,I had to look up my Hayley Dictionary, which is her biography book. ya!So I would suggest launching the competition regularly love, Rebecca
