Hello folks! Yesterday afternoon I was walking past the London Palladium when I noticed a large poster in a brass case next to the gates leading to the stage door in Great Marlborough Street. On closer inspection it was a list of about 200 of the thousands of famous names that have passed through the stage door since the theatre opened in 1910, when I was just a baby!!! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifThere were four columns of names, and there in the third column was the name "Hayley Westenra". I thought, it's a good job I was there early on 29th March last year so I could show Hayley where the stage door was, otherwise she might not have made it onto the list! Anyway, it was good to see Hayley listed together with so many other famous names, past and present, but I won't list them all here. If you're in London, go and have a look for yourself. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard

The reason for responding almost a year after you posted is that I was going through 'Miscellaneous' to double-check there wasn't a thread dealing with what i'm about to start! Brings back memories of that evening we both saw Hayley there but at that time unaware of one another! Peter

When we lived in the UK back in the 50's,if a performer(s) made it onto the stage of the London Palladium, then they made it to the top of the ladder of the entertainment world. More so if they appeared in `Val Parnell's Sunday Night At The London Palladium` TV show. I can remember some classic act's on this show which was also international, from stage and screen. Back in the early 60's do you remember a vocal group from Australia called ” The Seekers“? I believe they worked their passage to the UK in search of fame and possibly fortune. This they did and were lucky to land Gig's at another well known spot called ”The Talk Of The Town“ I have an LP of one of their performances at this venue, and very good it was too. Next time I am in the UK, I will have a look at that board you mention. It's good to see our Hayley's name mentioned too, excellent, Best wishes from Christchurch NZ Rodders fixed your quote - Dave

Hello Rodders! Thank you for your interesting comments. I made my original post last July, but I looked again after Peter's reply and the poster is still there by the gates. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI certainly remember the Seekers, and I know Roger does too. He's started a thread about them here. Best Wishes from London, Richard

One could say Hayley was really in her element when she performed at the London Palladium back on 29 March, 2004.
As a devout coincidentalist I absolutely delight in the knowledge that palladium -- the element -- has an atomic number of 46.
Any questions?
