Hi Roger & Dave & everyone, I was somewhat surprised at the rate the bidding went especially for a NZ market. It also shows what a strong fan base Hayley has here in NZ. What a pity they are not all members of HWI Thanks Dave for the currency conversion,I was about to do that when you beat me to it. I thought it would have been high even in sterling currency and the US dollar. Imagine what this would have gone for if it was on Ebay international!! Anyone prepared to have a guess at to what the price would have been? I'll start my guess would be in excess of $1000.00 US. cheers all, Rodders

Hello Rodders Rodders! Sorry you were unsuccessful this time, but it is an extremely rare and priceless album by Hayley. I reckon 'Walking In The Air' might attract bids up to £750 here in the UK, or perhaps even higher! Better luck next time! Richard

That is an INSANE price - not that's not worth it - but i can't believe someone would pay that much for a CD!! That buyer must be partying... Dori

Hi Dori. The price of something and the personal value of something are two different things. there are people who would spend that much on a bottle of wine or champagne, there are Scotch whiskeys at over a thousand pounds sterling a bottle. At least Hayley won't leave you with a hangover, and then you can play the CD all over again whenever you want i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifIn fact I think she's priceless ! comet

Dori Hi Dori, The price paid for the 'Walking In The Air' CD is a fair reflection of demand and supply I'd say... i.e. a very high demand for a CD which is now very hard to find. There were only just over 1000 copies every produced (I think the figure was actually 1070 copies... Is that right Belinda/ Roger? ). 'Walking In The Air' is definitely a serious collectors item for a Hayley fan. What makes that CD so special is that it was produced by the Westenra family independent of any record company and besides... that's the CD that allowed Hayley to secure her first record contract! 'Walking In The Air' is so much more than just a CD... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifPeople will pay prices for works of art, paintings or antiques according to how much they mean to them personally- i.e. demand. 'Walking In The Air' is exactly the same. So yes, to one person £215 is a lot to pay for a CD, but to the serious collector it is probably money very well spent! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI wonder if there are any 'Walking In The Air' CDs in the UK? Andrew

Let's face it, to acquire a copy of WITA, you neeed to be forunate enough to hear about it, very quick to react, and prepared to part with quite a bit of money. We know Hayley has sold around 3,000,000 albums worldwide. It is likely that at least one member in each of those households would love to own WITA. But only 1070 of them were ever made, most of which are never likely to be sold by their original owner. So, whoever bought the recent one is unbelievably fortunate. I hate him! (Only kidding... I think!) Roger

Well I didn't say it was a waste of money, i just thought it was a little bizarr and unexpected. Living in NZ i know how people spend their money and i find that a little out of the ordinary... Dori

Hi Folks, Belinda and Marianne, We are talking about a recording of music on a compact disc, The arm and leg I offered, an arm from an old record player perhaps, The leg from an old chair. A common expression, "I would give my right arm for that car or work of art or something you would like to have. I suppose the beauty of the AUCTION is that the buyer or bidder places the value on the object offered. I would consider WITA worth an average weeks wages to me. But Not at the expense of feeding your children or other priorities which should be taken care of first. Most of us who post here I would assume seldom go without food or shelter and have the important things in life taken care of, This is why we can afford to sit around chatting about much less serious things. And I for one am grateful that I am in such a position. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Long may it continue. comet

There is hope that another wil become available in time Not mine though I just found and email from Gerald Westenra from back in August 2003,Hayley and Gerald were in Wales for the Faenol festival Regarding WITA he said, as far as the demo cds are concerned we produced 1000 and they went into sounds stores in the main centres and later into the CD Store.
