To give it's proper German name, Nussknacker und Mausekönig is the name of this new animated movie in which Hayley sings one song, called "It's a Peaches and Creamy World" or similar. This soundtrack CD appears to have been released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on 29th November 2004 and the actual movie released on 2nd. December 2004 in those countries. One report I found mentioned "English language" versions of the movie - so its possible it will be released in more countries at a later date. Now that is very different. I found the 30 second clip to be too short to get enough of an impression, but it sounds excellent. I would like to hear more of that. Anyone out there got it?
Cheers, Keith.

I LOVE IT!!
What is it about Hayley? I love everything she has ever performed. And, when you think you have heard it all, she comes out with something different. It seems to me that we haven't even scratched the surface of her full ability yet.
This promises many exciting things yet to come. And I look forward to it all with joyous anticipation.
Thanks Dave. That was excellent.
Cheers, Keith.

Sorry - but I don't like it one little bit. Too much pop/rock - not enough classical. This, in my view, wouldn't even qualify for a cross-over chart, and certainly not for the classical charts.
I don't give Hayley a chance if she is trying to capture the world of pop music with this stuff. There's too much of that on offer already.

This is one of those awkward ones. I do like it. BUT, I do not think Hayley should record it on her own album for the very reasons Gerrit gives. It's fine elsewhere, and Hayley shows she can handle it very well but, it's not going to help her to include stuff like this.
What it does show is that Hayley can turn to many other things - things which will fit in nicely to the market area she is in at the moment. And things which will be right for her voice.
As I said, what I am trying to get over is rather complex and I'm probably not saying it very well.
Keith.

Well I think it's rather nice - perfect for a (presumably) children's animated film! Film scores often have little to do with the main thrust of a singer's repertoire but they are very useful for increasing awareness and potentially widening the fanbase. I don't think any singer in Hayley's position (in Germany i.e. newly launched) is going to turn down the offer to sing in such a film and I'm sure it gives us no clues whatsoever about her future musical direction. I'm glad she did it. It will be very interesting indeed to see the range of styles Hayley includes on her new album - a slight shift towards Celtic or Country wouldn't surprise me but with the bulk of it firmly classical crossover - I hope. I think Hayley needs to retain ALL of her present NZ and UK fan base which is where she stands to generate most of her income, so I don't expect too many shocks - perhaps no "Wuthering Heights's" on this one... i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I think it's lovely! Just right for an animated movie; hopefully it will be here in the US and the UK for next Christmas. I agree that the song is slightly "poppier" than we are accustomed to hearing from Hayley; but this is a one-off for a soundtrack and it's brilliant.

Hello again folks! I'm not very keen on "Peaches and Creamy World" for two reasons. The lyrics are too trite and the recording makes Hayley sound like yet another all-girl group. I much prefer Hayley as a soloist, although I do like it when she harmonises with herself as a duet. I would buy it if I found it on either a soundtrack or a various artists compilation CD, but I hope it won't be on Hayley's new album due this autumn. Only 9 days to Hayley's 18th Birthday on 10th April!Bye for now, Richard

I have received today a copy of a CD called Nussknacker und Mausekonig, Track 14 of this CD is a song performed by Hayley, titled Peaches and Creamy World. I can not find any mention on this board so I thought I would ask if any one knows the history of this track. Track 14 has its copyright to both Decca and Universal, and was recorder in 2004. Here is a photo of the CD cover ... and the rear showing track 14. Can anybody fill in the gaps? Yours Hopefully Steve H

I am new to the forum (well new in the sense that I just registered, I read the forum when I get a chance). I probably won't have a lot of time to post (I am too busy being over involved with college), but I just wanted to share that I found a new clip of the song from this CD.; the clip is completely different from the others. I found it completely by accident when I was googling the German release of Odyssey. Anyway, the clips can be found at the following address: faz.libri.deYou just search Hayley Westenra and the album comes up.
