Has anyone heard any news lately of a release of Never Saw Blue as a single in New Zealand,I had heard there was to be one ,But am worried now it may not happen. Maybe there will still be a release, just before Hayley's New Zealand tour .

Hi Belinda,
All I know is that the decision had been made not to become involved in the singles market. I don't know if that was worldwide or just in the UK.

Is it my imagination !
the first few notes remind me of
Hill Street Blues ?
or was that just obvious to everyone ?

Yikes! Old thread, but worthy question? (I'll let you decide).
Why did they decide to not enter the singles market? Though "Never Saw Blue" has been done before in the US, it is certainly not uncommon for other versions of the same popular song to become popular as well. It may have even helped to introduce Hayley to a number of people. Perhaps the promotional budget was a bit too stretched already. However, having just bought the CD a few weeks ago, this song has quickly become one of my favorites, and I imagine it would have been fairly popular here as well. Just curious....anyone know?

Hi Eric,
I don't think we were ever given a reason. I remember it was withdrawn just days prior to the planned release and I suspect you may be right in thinking it was in view of the cost of promoting it. Yes, it would have introduced Hayley to more people but would it have been enought to make repay the cost of promoting it? Alas, we will never know.

Hi Roger, Thanks for the reply. I do understand the dilemma; however, I certainly wish there could've been more promotion. Perhaps with her success continuing to grow in other countries, she will be able to afford a bit more promotional opportunities here in the US in the future. I guess only time and a lot of speculation will tell whether or not this will pay off for her. In the meantime, I guess I can continue to enjoy the surprised look on everyone's face when I play this song for them (and then state how young she is/was). Eric

You're quite welcome. That was from April, 2005, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Have you seen this video ? Definately one of my favorites ! Never Saw BlueCheers, Wayne Hi Gabinzki, there's a long standing thread about this video here in the Media board as it's from a TV broadcast. To avoid unecessary duplication, it should be discussed there, thanks. I've changed your link accordingly. Dave

Apologies, Dave. I guess I should familiarize myself more with the 'search' button. When I found 'Never Saw Blue' in the singles section I didnt look any further. The same thing happened when I posted a different video of Hayley when she was younger. That thread was buried pretty deep and I never would have found it without a search. . All the best, Wayne (new at this stuff ) P.S. Unless I thought to look in the 'Hayley in the Media' section. Duh ! Could've found both threads ! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

I listen NSB almost every night before going to sleep.. It's sweet and sad at the same time and Hayley's voice adds something magical to the song. Too bad Hayley's version is not popoular like Shawn Colvin's.

I would have to agree with the28sky that its sweet and sad at the same time. It is my favorite song on the Odyssey CD.
