Hi Keith, According to the press kit here that I'll be receiving, 'Both Sides Now' will be released in the USA as a single in January 2006. This would coincide with Hayley's North America tour. It also looks like Decca want the single on the Nielson Adult Contemporary charts. It's quite early yet for anything definite though.

Many thanks for that news. Rather exciting I think. Please keep us advised regarding anything you can find out.
Cheers, Keith.

If this is released as a single in the US I think it would mostly be for radio as are slingle charts go by radio and sales well mostly radio.

Thanks for that info, Joe. It reminds me that Hayley mentioned that Both Sides Now could be a single, in one of her UK Local Radio interviews. I can't remember if it was one I put online (some of them weren't worth doing that). I was surprised, as I didn't think it would do very welll in the UK. Now you mention it as a possible US single, her comment makes more sense. But I'll have to rely on you and other Americans to tell me if you think it could get some US airplay or into the charts... I've no idea at all! Cheers, Dave

It might have done well in the days of good old fashioned vinyl but not on these new-fangled CD things because, well, you just can't play both sides now! No, stop, ouch that one got me! Roger

I think it could get radio play in the US on the AC sations . There is this one Dj that does a show that is broadcast in most of the citys in the US that I think would play it. Are single charts are very different than the ones in the Uk and we have so many. and Roger that is funny what you say.

Hi all, I think the 'Both Sides Now' single (which hopefully will occur) would have tremendous potential in the Adult Contemporary charts. I heard Joni Mitchell's version recently on my local Adult Standards radio station. The single would also be great for radio airplay. Of course this would depend if the song was remixed for radio. Contemporary, Top 100, soft rock and AC stations would find the song ideal. Many Americans are familiar with the song and would love Hayley's spin on it. Bye for now Joe

In the Music Week article published at the beginning of October (I've only just seen it) it said Both sides Now would be released as a single on November 21 in the UK and will go to radio in late October. If this is still going to happen, and in the US too as Joe said, this would explain why only a short clip from the BSN video is available on Hayley's official site Dave

I've just discovered that there are, apparently, 438 (four hundred and thirty eight!) known covers of Both Sides Now. The list, here, includes Hayley's DVD and album versions - so it's up to date. Not a lot of people know that! It also gives me an excuse to repeat the link for Hayley's excellent video of Both Sides Now - it's here Dave

Hi Dave, I have just taken a look at the list and noticed that it is NOT numbered. Have you really been sitting there counting them? There's dedication for you! Roger PS. I demand a recount!

Hehe,
to be honest, I didn't know about the existence of tracks 2) to 10) whatsoever - and if it wasn't for Hayley, I wouldn't have known about number 1 either (nor Joni Mitchell for that matter)
Thanks.

The Joni track I like the most are "Blue" and "Little Green." Actually, I like Blue best.
