Hi, I just have to comment on that tie!! ( being a woman albeit an elderly one!) What superb taste and match, Andrew! And I adore that pink jumper of Hayley's with the sleeves falling over her hands......oh to be young again!! love Marianne Oh Marianne! Are you wearing purple? And if so, for how long? That is really what you need to do. My guest bedroom is purple. Since the day I bought my first place, which remains my only place, I have had something purple about me somehow. You do know why, don't you?WARNING BY JENNY JOSEPH When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain And pick the flowers in other people's gardens And learn to spit. You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat And eat three pounds of sausages at a go Or only bread and pickle for a week And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes. But now we must have clothes that keep us dry And pay our rent and not swear in the street And set a good example for the children. We must have friends to dinner and read the papers. But maybe I ought to practice a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple. Perhaps that's why postscript is occasionally so much trouble--being controversial!!! Peter S.

I think I understand what Steve-o meant. You wouldn't see Paris Hilton or CC et al, doing this wonderful thing. Hayley was certainly enjoying herself there. She is in fact better than most of us 'humans' - her thoughts are 'omni - directional' - dealing with many situations at once and responding to them; trying not to let anyone down. Actually 'decent' is the word those rubbish celebs would see it as. 'Ascent' is how Hayley would describe it, I'm absolutely sure. There is a good line there Jon ' She is in fact better than most of us 'humans''. She is indeed. She makes you ask yourself, 'Why is my world not as sun-shine filled as hers seems to be and how does she make our world seem sun-shine filled when she comes into contact with us?' I am sure she causes many people much soul-searching as to how to see the world the way she does and to contribute to the whole the way she does. Peter S.

Hi Andrew I don't actually think that your tie is too bad ! I must admit to wearing a tie to a business meeting on occasion that I thought was fine, only to have a number of comments thrown at me. Oh well, its all in fun I know. Mind you, I think very carefully when choosing a tie these days !! I have got to add, that the photo of Hayley remembering to switch off her mobile phone is one of my favorites., amongst many others posted here. Regards Mark In one work place, in fact, come to think of it, in most!!! :2fun: I was renowned for my shirts, being at one time the first person to wear a coloured shirt when white was expected of all 'management'. Comments included: 'Is that a shirt or a tent you're wearing?' 'Did your shirt-maker use material intended for an umbrella by mistake?' 'Are you sure you are not wearing that 'thing' inside out?' Peter S. 'It's all rock and roll' LOL

I've been meaning to get back on this thread and mention that these pictures just keep getting better and better. I can't remember seeing pictures that show the real Hayley better. Oh, and Andrew, that is a great tie. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but it immediately reminded me of that Windows screen saver with all of the lines that go everywhere. That may not be enough to identify the screen saver I am thinking of (besides the fact that it looks like your tie), but I'm not sure what it is called and I am on a computer at a lab here on my college campus so I can't look it up. Hello everybody! This thread now runs to nine pages, but I really can't believe that Andrew's tie could possibly steal the show from Hayley! Much as I like the tie, I find Hayley's pink jumper is much more soothing to look at. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

By the way I do love your very own poem!! love Marianne i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif Q.What are you to make of my reply? A. A leg pull. A tease. As someone already commented, you are only as old as you feel. Age is but a number not a state of mind, unless you place yourself into it. I do not know the age at which the poet wrote, but the implication is early middle-age anticipating a later age. I think it is meant humorously and to some extent points up how embarrassing elderly people can be by being deliberately mischievous. I was brought up in a 'nicely pleasant, middle-of-the-road; conventional' family which provided a sane environment without embarrassments but I used to envy boys with eccentric relatives whom I found fun and illuminating, although they did indeed embarrass my friends, who could not see why I found their relatives, whom they tried to keep hidden, fascinating. I don't think it was so much that these relatives were eccentric, in the grand manner of, say, Dame Sybil Thorndike, or the group known as the 'Bloomsbury set'. It was just that they did things their way because that was how they felt or viewed things and not because 'that was the way society expected'. Essentially, they were simply themselves in defiance of fuddy duddy 'run of the mill' expectation. To be fair, some of them were just downright dangerous, which illustrates how things have progressed and despite my own gripes at certain EU directives and other follies, a change of outlook in this country was necessary to meet the modern age. I won't say whom, as relatives remain alive and local and not unknown to me and there are sufficient titled people around in this area for anyone who doesn't know and wouldn't share my view to be able to identify. Let me say there was a local family that discovered it had once held a baronetcy and managed to have the title and accoutrements revived. Thus this character became the Dowager Lady Whatsit. Remember, all this was forty years ago! A completely different world. It used to be said that one did not drive out of a certain local town in the direction of a certain village at eleven in the morning because the lady in question would be driving out of the village in the opposite direction, expecting to have a clear road. It was not so much that she expected no one else on the road, it was just the way she controlled her charabanc (she had never taken a driving lesson or passed any test--they hadn't been invented when she started driving) that she needed the whole road as a matter of necessity. Likewise, around four in the after-noon, when she had done her shopping, held forth at a local hostelry with all her friends for that day, she would be on her return journey, so it was inadvisable to be coming out of the village in the opposite direction! Of course, it has often been said that the difference between eccentricity and complete madness depends upon either the amount of money you have, or the title you possess! This reminds me of certain eccentricities of the Duke of Bedford, whose acquaintance I have not yet got round to meeting in my contribution to the celebrities thread. Oh to wear purple and a red hat! Thank you for your kind comment on my own little poetic titillation. But a passing moment upon the spur. Some times things happen that way, sometimes they are painstakingly slow! As on one occasion I got myself into trouble for being late returning to the factory from a business trip--I was side-tracked into writing a poem about car headlights on a wet road! Peter S.

I find them all quite amusing, but yes we should probably draw the line here and not talk too much more about it . Incidentally Richard, my tie could never upstage Hayley! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRegards, Andrew

This young lad had just appeared in a play, that he was keen to tell Hayley about, I loved the way she spent five or six minutes with him looking through the program, and then agreed to pose for a photograph with him and his proud mum, who incidentaly also works at the school.Steve H

More great pictures Steve!
I particularly like the one at the top of your latest post. Total concentration on Hayley's part and priceless memories for the youngster in years to come.
Thanks for sharing.
