Yes indeed, Richard. Strange that it should affect some boards and not others. I also noticed that the membership list has been wiped out! Roger

Hello again everybody. Hayley's official forum is in a very bad way this morning. All the posts on most of the boards have disappeared, so there's not much point in visiting it at the moment. I think it's been hit by a virus. Richard Both interesting and alarming. Probably coincidence. This is why I have been reluctant to reduce my protection to try and ensure their password reminder gets through, although if that won't get through how did I get my activation key through some while back, though I might not have had such stringent controls in place then? The issue is that around the time I noticed my email alerting me to an incoming email (which was my password reminder) and i clcked on it for immedite attention, it disappeared with a Norton 'moved or deleted' flash. A little later I discovered Norton had caught a virus and elminiated it! Probably purely coincidental. That the site may have caught a virus does not necessarily mean it was capable of sending any out... but. . .in this world I trust nothing ever! Peter S.

Hi Folks It would appear they are cleaning up' There was a lot of obnoxious material being posted there over the last while.
The whole OFF TOPIC thread and the OTHER MUSIC threads appear to be gone. but they may be just cleaning them up.
Jon s you have my sympathy, much of your material was in these threads and I hope you have back up copies.

Hi Comet,
I think it is highly unlikely to be a "cleaning up" operation. I don't see how that would explain some of the current anomalies on that forum. Cleaning up can be done while the forum is fully operational or, if necessary, the entire forum can be put into Maintenance Mode which means nobody except staff could see it. At least, that's how it is with ProBoards forum and I imagine it is pretty much the same with Yabb.
The obnoxious comments have appeared on at least three separate occasions and were deleted very quickly after they were reported. Again, that does not explain why all posts in certain boards have disappeared, the membership list has vanished and every existing posts is showing as "new", regardless of its age.
I fear there is something seriously awry but I don't know what it might be.
Roger

I have been away for a while because I was getting stressed and bringing it to this forum, so I thought I'd give everybody a break. Now I find that stupid spammers (you should see Kelly Sweet's forum - its full of it!) have took it upon themselves to spread their disgusting spam on Hayley's site. But if it turns out the administrator has deleted all the threads and is not cleaning them, then I'm writing a letter to Hayley.

Hi Jon S, There is probably not a lot you can do at this stage jon, other than to wait and see what the powers that be do about it. It appears as though they are on the case so, unfortunately jon you wil, like the rest of us just sit it out and I suggest wait until Roger possibly finds out what the problem is from official sources, and will no doubt let us know in due course. cheers, Rodders CH CH NZ

Hi Rodders,
Its a bit sad I know, marking 'Top Poster' on Hayley's Official forum has one of my greatest achievements, but I hope every things not permanently deleted otherwise it would have been for nothing.

I think Rodders speaks wisely. Let's give them a few days and see what happens. Don't expect instant results over the Easter period, though!
If there is still a problem towards the latter part of next week, I will endeavour to find out what is happening. Until then, there is nothing we can do and I suggest we refrain from drawing our own conclusions as to the possible cause of the problem.

Hello again folks! As Roger says, all the topics are showing as 'new', so I clicked on 'Mark all posts as read', only to have them all come up as 'new' again. My advice is not to post on the official forum until somebody there explains what's going on, which probably won't happen until after Easter. The ball is in Decca's court. At least it's normal service here at HWI! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest Wishes, Richard

Given that KJ's forum is now accessible only if you first register, I think that is probably the direction they are looking to go in with Hayley's forum, to cut down on lurking and casual users who do nothing but cause problems.

As Roger said and in theory at least, the threads should return, simply because when you delete things, they are not really deleted. I assume they make back-ups of the forum anyway (Text doesn't really take up that much information.) If they don't we can sue em for err.... Missed Hayley votes on Richard's thread because no-one could access it. Seriously though, even if it is a virus, that can be removed without corrupting information. If its security testing and 'troll trapping' they are doing, thats fine and it would explain why they haven't gave any info, otherwise that wouldn't work. Is there any YABB forums unaffected, anyone know?

Someone was asking on the Aled Jones forum (which for a minute I thought all the posts had been put back.) if post retrieval was not possible once they had sorted the problem. Surely this is not going to happen? What about all the information Hayley's forum contained and I'm not just worried about my posts. Lots of devoted members spent a lot of time building that forum up and the same for Aled et al.
