I've noticed that if you login whilst at the end of a thread in order to reply, Proboards takes you back to the welcome screen and you have to navigate back to where you were. Is this a constraint of Proboards? Martin

Hi Martin,
In a word, yes, insofar as there is nothing I can do to override that.
You may find it easier to log in as soon as you visit the forum as that can aid navigation (the icons to the left of each board on the menu page will indicate if anything new has been posted since you last visit). Even more helpful would be to opt to stay logged in "forever" which should eliminate virtually any future log in diffuculties.

Hi Roger,
Lately 'login' to the site seems to be behaving strangely.
(1) If I click a link in an email message notification and log in when the HWI page comes up and then click on 'messages' at the top of the page, I am logged out and can't read the message. The problem is solved when I click the HWI bookmark on my computer and log in all over again.
(2) Sometimes when I click a thread link in a post heading in the '30 most recent posts', I'm logged out and there's no 'Quick Reply' box at the bottom of the page.
Is this erratic behaviour 'normal' for the site?
Not a big issue - just a frequent nuisance.
Thanks,
Paddy

Hi Paddy,
I must admit I am baffled by that. Having logged in, you should so for the remainder of that visit and during any return visits for the duration that you selected at the time of logging in - regardless of the pages to which you navigate. You said "lately". From that, I presume it is only a recent problem?
Unless you are already doing so, I can only suggest you select to ramin logged in "forever" from the drop down menu the next time you log in.
If anyone else had experienced similar difficulties, please say so in this thread.
Roger

Hi Roger,
Thanks. I've just seen your reply.
It's just happened again navigating to this page from '30 most recent messages', even though I logged in 'forever' this time.
I think I only appear to be logged out ('please login' appears on the top of the page and no 'quick reply' box below), as, when I refresh this page, it shows I'm still logged in and can send this message.
Page Amnesia?
Thanks again,
Paddy

Hi Roger,
No problems this time!
Logging in 'forever' this morning seems to have solved the problem (similar to Martin's above).
Thank you,
Paddy

Hi Folks. anyone else having trouble entering text in the Message box when sending PMs. I find the cursor is in the box but it may not let me enter text.
Then if I click over in say the left hand blue border at the edge of the screen and then back in the Message box it might let me type again.
So I end up with incomplete messages which I seem to be able to send or preview but not reset. So I then have to send a second message.

Has happened to me too a few times. Comes ok, if I refresh the page and type the message all over again. (Maybe it's a device to keep message sizes down!) Paddy

Hi Paddy, Copied from the "Biography" thread: Hi Belinda, Refreshment doesn't work ... Del- eting cookies does. Night! Night! Paddy It could also explain why you find yourself logged out of the forum! Roger

Paddy, now you know that eating too many cookies can have unexpected consequences (but I'm sure the feeling was good!) Cheers, Dave

Hi Richard,
Great advice. Funny Ha Ha!
You've solved the mystery ... ... Now I know how to stay logged in to HWI. ... Eat chocolate all the time.
Paddy
P.S. Don't forget to bring some with you to pass around in Dublin on 4th Dec.
P.S. 2 We're both off topic!

Hi Roger,
'Refreshment' usually does work when HWI (temporarily) shows me as logged out, when I'm actually logged in.
Also the 'forever' cookie remains on my PC, when I appear to be logged out on the HWI web page. For whatever reason, the web page temporarily doesn't notice it.
Maybe Richard's solution will solve the problem?
Thanks,
Paddy

Hi Dave,
Sorry - didn't see your post until I had replied to Roger.
Yes - it felt great to get the better of stuff.nz. Pity I had to eat all the cookies though.
Paddy
(Now what colour should I use for cookies?)
