For anyone who hates to miss *any* posts in the forum, there is only one way to do it easily: using the "Search" facility. The 30 most recent posts button will not necessarily go back far enough. To get a list of everything posted, this is what you do:
1) Click the "Search" button in the menu bar near the top of the page
2) Leave the "Search For" and "More Options" boxes blank; leave all the "Boards to Search" check boxes checked.
3) Scroll to the bottom of the search page [CTRL+END] and enter the number of hours (or days) you want to go back.
4) Enter a suitably large number under "Maximum results", to make sure you get all posts since your last visit to the forum.
5) Under "View Results As", choose "posts" or "threads".
6) Hit the "Search" button at the bottom of the page and hey presto, you get a list of everything you ever wanted, and more!
After you've done this a couple of times, it can be completed in a few seconds - why not give it a try? If you want to search particular boards - or ignore a board - check or uncheck the relevant box(es). Problem solved.Dave. |

I like this approach! Now if only the results page lent itself to bookmarking. I guess it's way too dynamic for that, huh?

Rarely are searches so accurate as to provide all that is relevant. Surely, you want to ditch the chaff and then bookmark (which surely tou can?) those that are meaningful? Peter |

Peter Peter, Here's exactly what I meant: A search for the last 30 posts sans birthday wishes takes several steps to realise. Too bad I can't automate this procedure by bookmarking the page containing those pristine 30 posts. When I try, it fails to get there again. In a perfect forum world fans of Hayley would be able to have all the on-topic posts available at a glance. The off-topic posts, which are equally numerous, would exist in their own parallel forum universe. We would also wear costumes and speak in our own Hayley-jargon so that no outsider can understand our ideas -- oh wait, we already do that! |

Hi Gene As a matter of interest, do you delete the '7 days' default option? I've just tried your search typing in '24' in the hours and leaving the '7' in the days and it doesn't work. Type in 24 in the hours and delete the 7, it should work then. Best wishes Grant |

I have just tried the Search facility without specifying any timescale (but leaving the 7 day default setting in place) and requesting 50 posts. It worked perfectly well. The key seems to be to leave the 7 alone!

If Gene wants to seach by time, it will generally also be necessary to increase the number of posts as the default is '10' and at busy times '100' can be nearer the mark!  I still believe that my method of keeping a note of 'Total Posts' shown in 'info Centre' to see how many posts have been added since I last logged in and then search for that number. That works best for me until someone (who shall remain nameless  ) decides to tidy up a few threads! Best wishes Grant |

Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. However, I was including 100 posts in my search. I've reduced it to 50 and it seems to be working better. Hi Everyone, It has taken the best part of the day to catch up on the 950+ posts I had missed Incedently the search funtion appears to limit the number to 1,000. This should normally be enough but as each new post is added you have to go further 'back' . Is there a way of starting your seach at say 100 back and going back to 900  i.e only displaying 800 rather than 900 Thanks in Advance, Graham |

My apologies for the dodgy search engine results, Graham. I have had difficulty when I try to look at the last 700 or so. Did you try increasing some of the days to search? My only suggestion is that you may wish to un-tick some of the boards you don't want to include in your search such as off-topic.

Hi Graham, Yes, the search button is limited to 1,000 returns. Regretably, you cannot start your search at 100 back. It will always return the most recent posts and limit it to the number you chose or 1000 whichever is the smaller. The following two suggestions may help: 1. Search the last 1000 (or however many you need) and scroll down to the bottom to read the oldest first. Read them all before searching again for anything that has been posted since you began the search. You can worry about those in a later search. 2. Limit your search to one (or a few) boards at a time. When the forum is particularly active, try checking ONLY 'Hayley in Concert' and anything up to 1000 posts, or all posts on that boards for however many days you require. Having read them, search again only this time select every board EXCEPT 'Hayley in Concert'. I think you may find that solves your problem.  Roger |

Not sure if this is the correct place, but I've just replied to Caitlin's recent post on the photography thread and the search button is now telling me that the thread doesn't exist. Looking at the index, all the page numbers for the photography thread have disappeared and I can only see the first page from back when the thread was created in 2006  Any ideas? Best wishes Grant |
