I actually need help with resizing photos intended for avatars. Why is it that some photos will resize to the recommended dimenisons and still look nice and clear, but others will get all distorted? I'm trying to use the Hushabye photo from the Hong Kong concert adertisement, the one of her in the dark green sparkly dress. I'm having an agonizing time resizing it in photobucket. Either it's out-of-focus, her eyes start looking out-of-whack, or you can hardly see who she is. I recently tried changing my avatar on the other forum, too. It looked fine in photobucket, but on the forum, it was all blurry. I'm trying to avoid that on this forum, too, though I'm using a different photo for here. When posting photos on the official forum, I usually resize by dividing the original dimensions by half, but that doesn't always translate so well on photobucket. Any help on resizing photos and still making them look clear will be appreciated. I wouldn't mind keeping the avatar I have, since I feel like an image of someone with their hand on their hip might be an accurate depiction of myself (if I were only as pretty as Hayley). LOL

Oh yes, it does look good. I was just going to say "Hey, thanks for stealing my idea". :2fun:
So I guess cropping it is the only way to make her face stand out? But then on photobucket, if I crop the photo before I resize it, it always turns out bad. But then if I don't, Hayley is way too tiny!

Alrighty! 1.) Paste this into the Avatar URL bar: imgur.com/hU3mxlX.jpg2.) Put 69 in the width bar 3.) Put 100 in the height bar And there you go. -Taylor i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifP.S.- If you want a good program to edit photos, I'd strongly reccomend Piacasa. It's free and really easy to use. It's much better than the Photobucket editor.

Great, thanks! I'll think about Picasa. Is this a software program? I'm not all that good with computers, so I'm never sure about downloading some new program I'm not familiar with. Just remember to change your avatar back. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif

There! I even did it myself!
My latest crop might not show yet, though... if it ever shows up at all... If you edit your photo after you've posted it, and you try to re-post it, it doesn't like to show up on the forum. And trying to post the original photo in this message? Impossible. It's because when I changed the image, I selected "Replace original photo". And so that makes it act like the link is broken for a while. And yet you still see it in my avatar. Though the crop doesn't show... uggghh.

Yeah, it's fine, I just wanted to crop the top a little bit more. But I just thought you cropped the sides too much, that's all. And I decided to show a little more of her arms. Yours is brighter though. Actually, looking at my last 2 posts above, in the bottom one it looks a tiny bit different than in the one above. I thought it was just the difference in the angle when I scroll the page, but I don't think so. Oh, well, hopefully it'll all turn out right tomorrow. Maybe.

Hello Libby! If you edit an image in Photobucket, it often takes about 24 hours before the change appears on the forum. The apparent difference in your previous posts is probably an optical illusion caused by the alternating colour backgrounds. Richard

I would never use Photobucket to edit images. There are just so many better programs out there. Mind you I shouldn't talk, I've been known to use YouTube's editing features to edit my videos. Then redownload them.

What else do you recommend, Martin? It's at least better than the Windows thing that comes with my computer. Anyway, I'm more used to photobucket than the Windows program. It helps to sort of know what you're doing.

Also lots of help screens. www.photoscape.org/ps/main/screenshot.phpCheers Tony

I haven't had much experience of using image editing software on Windows, since I usually use something call Variations that runs under RISC OS. But I have come across quite a few such programs for Windows, just never used them in anger. I suspect most of the better ones aren't free though!
