Hi Northern Lights, I am a fan, but I only like a few of the songs...'Steal Away' (from John McDermott not All Angels), 'Caledonia', 'Mull of Kintyre', and 'The Old Man' (McDermott). 'The Island' isn't the Aselin Debison song. Glad you really like Celtic Thunder, NL. I only mentioned it here and now you're planning a forum for the group!

well, the forum is made, but not completely organized yet its link is celticthunder.proboards88.comI wish The Island and Steal Away were the versions I knew before CT I actually have known about them since before their auditions, sometime in August, but forgot about them and didn't know that they had a name change (Celtic Man to Celtic Thunder) until recently

Hello everybody! There is an existing thread about Celtic Man HERE. To avoid any further confusion, I've locked that thread and posted a link to this one, so discussion should continue here. Richard

Eh, they're ok, but their musical choices and arrangments do not deliver the dramatic red meat you get from the Irish Tenors. Their songs are actually borderline "easy listening" in some cases, rather than the strong stuff about nation or war or lost love where tenors shine at their best. For an example of what i mean, listen to Anthony Kearns dramatic version of the Irish war song "The West's Awake" and compare it to this.

Celtic Thunder has a great relationship with Phil Coulter (Is he their musical director?) Phil's compositions really shine...songs like "The Old Man" and "Steal Away"
Here is the song list from the recent PBS concert... the soloist is found next to the song title, followed by the composer.
"Heartland" – Celtic Thunder (written by Phil Coulter) "Mountains of Mourne" – Keith Harkin (traditional) "Raggle Taggle Gypsy" – Celtic Thunder (traditional) "Ride On" – Ryan Kelly (written by Jimmy MacCarthy) "The Old Man" – George Donaldson (written by Phil Coulter) "Love Thee Dearest" – Paul Byrom (traditional) "Heartbreaker" – Ryan Kelly (written by Phil Coulter) "Nights in White Satin" – Paul Byrom (written by Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues) "Come by the Hills" – Damian McGinty (traditional) "The Voyage" – George Donaldson (written by Johnny Duhan) "The Island" – Keith Harkin (written by Paul Brady) "Mull of Kintyre" – Celtic Thunder (written by Paul McCartney and Denny Laine of Wings) "Puppy Love" – Damian McGinty (written by Paul Anka) "Lauren & I" – Keith Harkin (written by Keith Harkin) "Steal Away" – Celtic Thunder (written by Phil Coulter) "My Boy" – George Donaldson (written by Phil Coulter) "Desperado" – Ryan Kelly (written by Glenn Frey and Don Henley of the Eagles) "Ireland's Call" – Celtic Thunder (written by Phil Coulter) "That's A Woman" – Paul Byrom, Ryan Kelly and Zara Curtis (written by Phil Coulter) "She" – Paul Byrom (written by Charles Aznavour and Herbert Kretzmer) "Remember Me, Recuerde Me" – Paul Byrom (written by Phil Coulter) "I Want to Know What Love Is" – Keith Harkin (written by Mick Jones of Foreigner) "Caledonia" – Celtic Thunder (written by Dougie MacLean)

The CD list doesn't have as much punch to it though.

Joe Hi, Joe, Both the CD and DVD are available on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk (and other sites). Not my 'cup of ( Celtic) tea', though! There's much better Irish stuff around, I believe! Paddy

I happened upon the show on PBS recently, and I have to say, I was unimpressed. I guess it was the end of the show, because they were singing "I Want to Know What Love Is", and then "Caledonia". I'm used to Lisa's version on the CW DVD, so that didn't help. Besides the fact that she sounds prettier singing it, it just seemed weird to see a young "pretty boy" singing it. And then some other guy in a kilt came out, and that was it for me. Going against Comet's theory that people tend to like artists of opposite genders best, I much prefer Celtic Woman to this.
