Thanks for the link, Joe! I really enjoyed Connie's delightful recording of Gounod's 'Ave Maria'. Following a brief discussion in the Faryl Smith thread, I have removed the comparison with Hayley from the title of this thread. Best Wishes, Richard

My copy of Christmas Album arrived today. It only took AmazonUK 4 days to send it to New Zealand which was great service. Connie has matured a lot on this album. I wonder how great a singer she will be when she is Hayley's age. Well I better listen to the album and try not to have too many tears like last time. Too late Ave Maria caused a few.

Connie appeared on GMTV this morning to plug the new album due out on Monday. Her single Three Little Birds was today announced as No. 1 in the US Billboard Hot Singles Sales Chart
A film of Connie in LA was shown.

Hi Martin Thanks for posting this - yes, its fantastic news. Connie has managed to crack the USA at just 8 years of age. I received a phone call from Connie's mum, Sharon on Wednesday afternoon to tell me the good news so that we could post it on Connie's forum before it became common knowledge. Keep an eye out for Connie here in the UK as well. She is due to appear on GMTV again, as well as Richard & Judy and ITV central news. You may also spot her TV advert for her Christmas album on the ITV network. Connie also has her own Christmas TV show which will be screened very close to Christmas day and will be at least 30 minutes possibly an hour in length. Connie's mum and dad very kindly invited me along to her school for the rehearsals, where ITV were filming the Christmas show a few weeks ago. Here is a link to the thread on her forum if anyone is interested to read my report. connietalbot.proboards102.com/index.cgi?board=cat&action=display&thread=899Best wishes Mark

Hi Martin Thanks for posting this - yes, its fantastic news. Connie has managed to crack the USA at just 8 years of age. Hi Mark and Martin, This is really good news but let's not get carried away by saying Connie has "Cracked the USA" until she's been high in the main Hot 100 singles chart or Billboard 200. Although she may do at some point, she hasn't yet been in either (has she?). The no. 1 in the Hot 100 singles sales chart often fails to enter the main Hot 100 at all, as in this case so far (because physical CD singles sales are overwhelmed by downloads and airplay) but either way, it's brilliant to get a no. 1 and it will certainly help her new album when it's released. The new Christmas album is selling nicely in the UK this week and looked set to enter the top 100 but GMTV this morning should cause a bit of a surge hopefully well into the top 75. Fingers crossed! Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave Maybe I did just get a little carried away there with my comment I guess I dont really fully understand the way the charts work, so thanks for the clarification. It will be very interesting to see what happens though. Things are looking quite good for the Christmas album too, although obviously, it has such a short shelf life. Anyway, as you say, fingers crossed. Best wishes Mark

Hi everyone.
I think Mark was right in saying Connie cracked the USA, because she has sold millions of records there already and now has a lot of fans from America.
Well done Connie, you should be proud of yourself!
Her Christmas Album is amazing too. What a voice for such a young age! She is going to have great success with it!

Katie Hi Katie, I agree with every word that you've written there... except for the "cracked America" and "sold millions of records" bits. Connie has never been in the main Billboard 200 albums chart or the Billboard Hot 100 (which are the main charts), only the 'lesser' charts like Heatseekers, Hot Singles Sales and Top Kids. She hasn't sold millions of records there. We all have to admit that Hayley never "cracked America" even though she reached no. 70 in the Billboard 200 and spent many months in the top 3 of the Classical Crossover chart. Good luck to Connie though, I think she's very cute and she has plenty of time to make that big breakthrough! Cheers, Dave

She has 500 American members on her forum so thats a start Belinda I have been studiously avoiding comment about Connie for a couple of reasons - one of which is that I am genuinely impressed but concerned.....I dont want to dampen anyones barbeque here ...... The "rush" Belinda is simply the same reason she was given a contract so young in the first place - her age is a major selling point, and the older she gets the less salable she becomes - at least in those terms.....In a year or two she will begin to encounter competition. Somewhere around nine years old, some girls take a big leap forward vocally. Byt the age of 11 or 12, there are a fair number of girls who can sing pretty well. Jon Jon
