Hi Everyone, Yes it is a great loss to the music world ,He has certainly been a house hold name for many years. My daughter Kimberley when aged about seven was watching TV with amazement and saw Pavarotti on stage and Said Mum i want to sing with the Fat Man she didn't get that chance but went on to sing in many local concerts and stage shows. maybe it was him that inspired her. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifHe was slightly larger in those days Belinda

Hi all,
I was saddened at the news of Pavarotti's death; although I knew he was ill for some time. My mother was a great fan of his voice. I believe Mom went to several of Luciano's concerts about twenty years ago. She spent the day looking for LP's and cassettes in the house.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and fans.

Sorry to turn to more technical matters but the situation in next week's album charts (perhaps the singles chart too with Nessun Dorma due to downloads) could be interesting... in all major Countries. In the UK, this is the situation: At Amazon UK, Pavarotti or Three Tenors or Pavarotti Operas are currently ranked at the following positions in their Classical Chart: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 25, 35, 42, 44, 49. The ones in bold are in their top 200 main chart. The highest placed are no. 4 and no. 14 in their main chart. Pavarotti is an ever-present in the classical album charts either alone or with the other Three Tenors. But what gets into Sunday's main album chart depends on what's already available in shops, what's sent out to the shops by distributors this week, if they count as V.A. compilations (some have swapped from V.A. to Artist and back!) , and if they count as budget albums. In other words, anything could happen but I don't think we will get more than one or two in the main album chart - and none if they are all budget albums. The classical charts could well be completely flooded, though. RIP Pavarotti - but if only you knew! Dave

In a tribute by CNN, they opted for an interview with Katherine Jenkins about the impact of Luciano Pavarotti. Pavarotti Tribute (33.7 MB) (I have re-recorded it to remove the news bar that standard occurs at the bottom of the CNN screen.) Gerrit

Very sad indeed. His accomplishments are staggering, aside from musical talent, as an opera singer, 43 years with Decca, and over a billion dollars in revenue. Probably not many outside of the pop world, or perhaps even in it, that can claim that level of success.

For what it's worth, Pavarotti would have turned 72 today. :birthday: wherever you are.

Is it just my impression, or has the first anniversary of Luciano Pavarotti's passing away just over a year ago gone largely unnoticed in the media? There was a one hour tribute on the German TV channel ZDF last week - but of all the channels I can receive in other countries (Holland, Belgium, France and Great Britain) I have not been able to locate a similar tribute. Nearly all the songs shown on ZDF were already circulating on YouTube for a long time, as the tribute consisted of material that has been broadcast in the past. There was only one short version of Panis Angelicus that I could not find on YouTube, hence I have since uploaded it there. It is also available from this link, and it is quite a beautiful version: www.classicalrelatedperformances.com/tenors/panisangelicus1979.wmvGerrit

Hi Gerritt
This is not entirely true. In France, we had a massive concert at Paris St Cloud for Luciano Pavarotti with great French singers like Roberto Alagna, Florent Pagny, Patrick Bruel and Christophe Willem. It has been largely advertised in the media and will be on one of France's main television channel next week.
