Hello Roger, Peter and everybody. I'm sorry to shatter your illusions, but it sounds as though the girl on the train was one of a large gang of professional beggars who target busy trains heading for the London suburbs in the evening. They are nothing more than actors reciting a script, and they make a lot of money this way! Richard Hi Richard. I don't think I had any illusions, I was trying to be as realistic as you but somewhat more gently! Peter S.

Yes, she may well have been, Richard. I realised that at the time, but she might also have been genuine. That was partly my point - how is one to tell?

Hello Roger.
I don't think we should dwell on this subject too much, but when you travel home from London as often as I do, it's not difficult to spot when somebody's acting. I see it two or three times a week.
Best Wishes,
Richard

Hi everyone! I didn't contribute to this thread yet, but yesterday, I heard a wonderful song on -- of all things -- a bank commercial. I loved it immediately and googled it. It's one of the most heartwarming songs I've ever heard. Even though it's simple, it gets a beautiful message across. "Ordinary Miracle" by Sarah McLachlanwww.youtube.com/watch?v=Urv7tyeJ7qEIt's not that unusual when everything is beautiful It's just another ordinary miracle today The sky knows when its time to snow You don't need to teach a seed to grow It's just another ordinary miracle today Life is like a gift they say Wrapped up for you everyday Open up and find a way To give some of your own Isn't it remarkable' Like every time a raindrop falls It's just another ordinary miracle today Birds in winter have their fling And always make it home by spring It's just another ordinary miracle today When you wake up everyday Please don't throw your dreams away Hold them close to your heart Cause we are all a part Of the ordinary miracle Ordinary miracle Do you want to see a miracle' Its seems so exceptional Things just work out after all It's just another ordinary miracle today The sun comes up and shines so bright It disappears again at night It's just another ordinary miracle today...

Very lovely Oksy. Its simplicity reminded me immediately of "All Things Bright & Beautiful" Refrain: All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful: the Lord God made them all. 1. Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings, God made their glowing colors, and made their tiny wings. (Refrain) 2. The purple-headed mountains, the river running by, the sunset and the morning that brightens up the sky. (Refrain) 3. The cold wind in the winter, the pleasant summer sun, the ripe fruits in the garden: God made them every one. (Refrain) 4. God gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell how great is God Almighty, who has made all things well. (Refrain) I've thought of this hymn as a childrens hymn but, when you think of it, He regards all of us as his "children". The 1st time I heard HW sing this was totally unforgettable. Graeme PS Just played it again.....very beautiful & very moving. www.hayley-westenra-international.com/video-vault/2006_wmv-player/20061029sopthebigsing.html

I've been listening to Sarah's music for quite a while and I really like her lyrics, Oksana I did hear that song and it's beautifully done. The last line before the chorus really struck me because I do believe I take some things for granted for example clean water....some people do not rely on having clean water to drink sometimes, or hot water, there are others in the world who can never have hot water to warm them up. I'm grateful for the simple things in life...
Sarah McLachlan "World On Fire"
The worlds on fire its more then I can handle Ill tap into the water try and bring my share Try to bring more, more then I can handle Bring it to the table Bring what I am able
Hearts are worn in these dark ages Youre not alone in these stories pages The light has fallen amongst the living and the dying And Ill try to hold it in Yeah Ill try to hold it in
Chorus
I watch the heavens but I find no calling Something I can do to change whats coming Stay close to me while the skys falling I dont wanna be left alone dont wanna be alone
Chorus
Hearts break hearts mend love still hurts Visions clash planes crash still theres talk of saving souls still colds closing in on us
We part the veil on our killer sun Stray from the straight line on this short run The more we take the less we become The fortune of one man means less for some
Chorus
