Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've had any music news. I do want to say that I am all registered for my classes. I am taking 6 music classes and 3 non-music classes (PE, Maths and the required Freshman course). I can't wait! Just recently I became aware of a talent contest at a fair nearby. I have been busy working trying to get a song ready for the entry video into the contest. I decided on "Colors of the Wind" from the Disney film Pocahontas. I am happy to report that my video is now complete (and hopefully will be online soon for all to enjoy!) and ready to send in. I will find out on July 28th if I made it to the semi-finals. The semi-finals are in early August and are live at the fair. Here are a couple still photos from my performance. Hey guys!
It's the 28th and I haven't heard any news. I'll probably hear at work tomorrow.
I DO want to tell you some of the adventures I've had in the past few days with singing.
Saturday morning I went into a recording studio and recorded an original song 'The Brewmaster.' I wrote it for my brother's graduation present and wanted to record it for him. Andy, the producer, asked me back to record with him. I'm hoping to get a good start on my demo CD before I leave for Uni.
On Sunday morning I sang with a Christian band. We sang at a worship service called 'he Table. I was asked to sing a solo last Wednesday during the offering and I decided to sing Hayley's 'Prayer' It went over really well - they even clapped for me during the middle of the service! Then while I was singing my verse in the next song the fire alarm went off. We had to evacuate the building and never did finish singing the service. It was really smoky in the church so there was actually a fire, but luckily everyone was okay and there was little to no damage.
Today during work (in which I was dropping off brochures advertising the County Fair) I was at an auto parts place. The workers and I were joking around and one of the guys said "Well, I'm going to enter in the car show, he's doing the demolition derby, so what are you doing?" I at first said nothing and the same guy came back and said I had to be doing something. So I told him I entered the talent contest and was going to sing. Well you can guess what came next "Oh, will you sing for us?" So I sang a little bit of "Se Tu M'ami" - even made one of the guys cry.
Finally, today after work I went over to where my Grandparents live for a pot-luck dinner. After dinner they told me I should go play the piano and sing a bit. So I sang "The Brewmaster" "Someone Else" and "Unspoken" all originals of mine. It was a lot of fun. I promised them I'd be back and sing more.

Wow!!! I've heard of high notes breaking glass; but this is the first time I've heard one set off the fire alarm. Keep up the singing and maybe I'll see you in concert some day
