Hi Paddy,
Glad to see you back. Hope you are okay and not to sad about missing the trip to Athens. On the other hand, many Air France flights have been cancelled due to strikes these last few weeks so you possibly avoided you a lot of trouble at the airport.
Tickets for Celine concerts are really very expensive but then what is money in comparison to what you're going to experience? Hope you enjoy the show.
Stephany

Hi Stephany,
Thanks for the good wishes. The nice nurses found nothing. More tests!
Didn't know about Air France strikes. They seem to be a very efficient airline from my dealings with them.
But with connecting flights - I don't know what might have happened.
If I had gone, I might not have been able to get good tickets!
So, as they say in Irish, 'It's an ill wind that blows nobody good!'
Tickets cost less than I thought they would, though.
Cost me more for a show in The Palladium (London) in October for a charity show.
Believe me, I'd have paid a lot more if I'd had to (again, sorry, Richard).
Makes up for all the times I didn't go to places in the past.
Still room in Dublin ...
Au Revoir!

Hi Joyce,
Thanks for the info.
I have 'Taking Chances + DVD' on order. Got the best deal from CDWOW. It's on amazon too.
It seems the 2 extra tracks are on the Japanese edition only and are not on either edition available here..
No sign of the Japanese one on Celine's site either!
I heard her sing some of 'Taking Chances' songs on tv twice.
I liked what I heard much better than some of her 'extra loud' songs.
Not unlike her style in some of her earlier songs (mostly in French).
One of my daughters downloaded some of them and she said I should really like the album.
Only a few days more to wait ....
... no, not for Dublin - for the CD!
(Better hide now)
Groeten!

Hello Paddy! There's no need to keep apologising. I'm not really a fan of Celine Dion at all, but I hope you enjoy her concert. Best Wishes, Richard

Hello Paddy,
I thought I might tell you that I am a very big Celine Dion fan! I really, really like her, and I think she has an amazing voice. Come to think of it, Hayley is also a Celine fan, and said she would like to perform "Tell Him" with Sophie one day; which is the duet Celine performs with Barbara Streisand.
I love Celine because first of all, there is no voice like hers under the music genre in which she performs, just like there is no singer like Hayley in the classical world. I also believe Celine is a very genuine person. She's been married to her husband for over 14 years, she is a very devoted mother, and she works very, very hard. We don't see her in the gossip columns, unlike some other stars of the music/Hollywood industry....
Her "A New Day" concert on DVD was - what more can I say - AMAZING! The amount of time and money they put into that show was astonishing, and Celine's performances went from good to better. I can't really think of a song I didn't like, except for Seduces Me. It wasn't 'my type of song' or performance. But I watched the DVD around 4 times before returning it to the library!
I also think that me being American has something to do with me being a Celine fan. She is a huge part of our culture - especially after Titanic - and I greatly admire her very strong personality, which I don't think many artists in America have. She is, after all, French Canadian, and thus she has a completeky different perspective on the world than we do. That's why I think we as Americans like her so much.
I can see why not many people on HWI are not a fan of hers and I respect that. But I do believe people like Hayley branch out from the inspirational qualities and careers of artists like Celine Dion.
I really hope Hayley will one day perform with Celine. But as we all know, that would be one heck of a pretty big day! :2fun: It would make history, without doubt.

Dori Hi Dori, Thank you for your really thoughtful post. I’m pleased to know Celine has another big fan on HWI. Until I discovered Hayley and ‘Pokarekare Ana’, ‘A New Day’ used to be my mobile ringtone! I have quite a collection of Celine’s CDs and DVDs – much more than of Hayley. Quite an impressive range of songs and styles! Some maybe a bit ‘loud’ though! I really enjoyed the DVD too and her latest CD – ‘quieter’ but still emotion packed. I also like her earlier (mostly French) songs, as on ‘Celine Dion – The Collection 1982 – 1988’. I’m really looking forward to her concert in Dublin in May. But I very much doubt if I’ll get to meet her in person or get her autograph. I’m sure she’s a very nice person, as you say. 'Even took a break to look after her husband, when he was very ill. Do Americans really love her French Canadian roots? Maybe it has more to do with Celine’s very effective promotional machinery? Achieving international stardom (from ‘humble’ beginnings) took her much longer than Hayley. A duet with Hayley would be fantastic but I’m not really expecting that. Maybe it’s getting close, though? Hayley was Il Divo’s special guest. Now ‘Il Divo’ will be Celine’s special guest in Dublin in May! So, Hayley is surely ‘in her world’! ‘Always thought you were a Kiwi, not American. One of my grandfathers became an American citizen (in 1899)! Maybe that's why I enjoyed reading your post. Kia Ora, Paddy

Hi Paddy and Dori, Here it come another great Celine fan. Last december I was tempted to go in Geneva to see her in July because she hadn't any concert here for her new world tour. Lately she add a date on 3rd of July in Milan. And probably I'll not miss it. She's my second favourite singer together with Delta Goodrem, and I know her thanks to my mother. I hope you enjoy her concert in Dublin Paddy. ^^ And I would really love to hear I Knew I Loved You Before I Met You singed by Hayley.. the beautiful song Celine have dedicated to Ennio Morricone last year at the Accademy Awards. Hello Paddy and Emil,
Yes Paddy, I am American, but I've been living in NZ since Novemeber of 2000. So they are both equally home to me. What's great is I'm going to America this Christmas, fingers crossed...
Yes, I think Celine is loved by Americans because no other singer like her has ever existed. She is very, very unique, and has a high sense of morality, which I believe has affected her success. She doesn't jump on stage semi-nude to attract attention and sale her music...
I like Delta Goodrem too, Emil. I like her songs because they are truly meaningful. I used to listen to her when I was in high school quite a bit, but lost interst over the years, as Hayley has become my favorite!
I love her French music also. I think what did it for her was Titanic - that was an epic hit. No other song in American history has ever been as big as that, and that's because of Celine...
Also, I LOVE the song Taking Chances. It is so so good. I also love I Surrender, and The Power of Love, but so many of her French songs are my favorite, I just can't spell them. :2fun:

Hi, Dori and Emil,
Great! That's three Celine fans on HWI.
Yes, 'Taking Chances' is grrrreat, I agree.
And I like Delta Goodrem too - I have two of her CDs for a long time now.
I'm not sure if she has any more?
Emil, if you want to see Celine in Milan, you'd better book fast.
Tickets usually sell out within hours!
I was very lucky to get good seats for Dublin.
'I know her thanks to my mother' ... Maybe I'm getting old!
Kia Ora and Ciao,
Paddy
