OK, here are the clips. It's after 4:30 am in the UK so you Americans and NZ folks will be the first to see them. They vary from 8 to 13 MB in size. I will leave the clips in my personal webspace for only a day or two - until Gerrit can upload them for hopefully permanent hosting (Keith, you're welcome too, of course). Then, I will delete these links: EDIT: Temporary links deleted - please use Gerrit's permanent links (five posts below).Katherine - Habanera Katherine - Album of the Year Presentation Anna Netrebko - Song to the Moon Nicola Benedetti (age 17) - Carmen Fantasy and there's a special treat for all Hayley fans at the very start of THAT one! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI know everyone will download Katherine but if you REALLY like classical music, don't miss Anna and Nicola!!!!!

It looks like Costa Pilavachi not many shots of him around........ or it could be Fabio Capello, Juventus's coach. Emmett

In the meantine, here's a screen shot of Hayley... who's that with her? Bill Holland (MD of Universal Classics & Jazz)? It's not Costa Pilavachi, is it? Yep, that's Costa alright! Roger

Me too, Dave. Thanks very much, they're terrific. Especially the one of Katherine getting the award she deserved. I never doubted for a moment that the possibility of a split vote would do her any harm. It just meant she had two goes, that all! Nevertheless...... Phew! Roger

Hello everybody! Gosh, this thread's been busy while I've been away for a couple of days enjoying the Southend Air Show! I've just had a look at the clips, and my favourite bit was the quick shot of Hayley, so there's a surprise! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI also felt that Hayley deserved to win at least one award last year, but I really thought she might have won both. Possibly Classical Crossover hasn't yet been accepted by the people in high places in the music business, which seems very unfair considering its popularity with the CD-buying public. I remember hearing Bryn Terfel being interviewed on the radio soon after last year's awards, and he sounded disappointed that Hayley didn't win anything. He might have a slightly fierce appearance, but he's really a mild-mannered gentleman at heart. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifNow I'm really looking forward to Hayley's new album in September, and I'm sure it will be nominated in the 2006 Classical Brit Awards. Whatever the outcome, I'm certain the loyalty of her fans means more to Hayley than winning awards. I'm not a gambling man, so I won't be having a bet! See some of you at Hampton Court on 15th June. Only 15 days to go! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifRichard

Hello yet again! My brain's been in overdrive since yesterday, and I've got a new theory why Hayley didn't win the Best Album of the Year award last year. "Pure" is an eclectic mix of musical styles, but it was pigeon-holed as a classical album for promotional purposes, and also to make it eligible for the classical charts. However, many of the entries in Hayley's official guestbook would suggest that the pop and Maori songs are the most popular tracks, rather than the classical pieces. I also suspect that a large number of Hayley fans don't really follow the classical music scene, so they might not be aware of the Classical Brit Awards, let alone vote in them. I know the Awards were well publicised on several web sites including HWI, and Hayley certainly has millions of fans worldwide, but they don't all follow her on the Internet. Those of us in the HWI Forum are the elite! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifLooking at Katherine Jenkins, she looks and sounds more like an opera singer than Hayley, and I'm sure most of her fans do follow the classical music scene, which would explain why she did so well this year. The fact that Hayley reached a much higher position in the pop charts than Katherine could also be significant. It will be very interesting to see what happens with Hayley's new album in the autumn, but I'm not going to attempt to make any sort of prediction until I've listened to it. Meanwhile, let's all keep everything crossed that it does well! One final thought. There should be an award for the Best Music DVD, because Hayley's DVD is in a class of its own! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBye for now, Richard

Interestingly, The Classical Brits established a special category a few years ago so that Charlotte Church could WIN. They only ever had the category for that one event. There could be something in what you say about Hayley's music and the listeners to Classical radio. However, Hayley featured every week for months in their chart show with Mark Goodier, so, millions of people heard her offerings for themselves. Along with the boost we attempted to give through the websites, I feel that there is more to it than just people did not vote for her in sufficient numbers. Maybe I am becoming too sceptical in my old age but, when they say it is a public vote and yet never give the figures of that vote, I am suspicious. That goes double when Hayley, who deserved the win, didn't. As you can guess, it still rankles with me. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifKeith.

Thanks to all for the wonderful coverage of this event for those not able to view the awards on TV. Congratulations to Katherine Jenkins, Bryn Terfel, and the others who won! The pics are brilliant, Dave.
How wonderful for Hayley to sitting with Mr Pilavachi. For those who don't know, Costa Pilavachi is the president of the Decca Music Group. In 2001, Hayley, aged 14, caught the attention of Costa Pilavachi. He then flew to NZ just to meet Hayley. She was offered and later accepted a record deal with Decca. The rest is 'pure' history!
