We have no idea why All Angels chose to record 'Pokarekare Ana'. None of them have any connection with New Zealand as far as I know (aprt from the fact that they know Hayley!). Thanks for the answer, Roger. I'd like to think that they did it as a praise to Hayley. i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifHayley has made "Pokarekare Ana" a staple of crossover. Even Simon Cowell's group, Angelis, put their spin on it.

I have a policy of not buying first releases of albums, but to await re-releases. This type of marketing trick has been occurring on far too many occasions. And All Angels' record company doesn't mind dirtying its hands by using the same disgusting trick.
People have forked out money for first releases, and are now confronted by a second release that has just 3 new tracks on it.
Mind you, the re-release is better value for money because of those three tracks. I however think that the entire marketing ploy to re-release albums with just a slightly different track-listing stinks. It is utterly unethical.
I have just decided that I am NOT going to buy either version of the All Angels CD, despite the fact they I thoroughly enjoy the few videos I have seen. That's not enough though for me to decide to support them. I simply don't want to support their record company with this disgusting rip-off.
This will be the first time I decide against purchasing a CD simply because I want to make a stand against the fan-milking attitude of the record company.
Thanks.

Hi Gerrit, I sympathise with your point of view. As this is Universal Classics and Jazz we are in the main talking about (Hayley's Decca being a subdivision of UCJ) and they do this for many of their artists, here are my three possible solutions to the problem: 1) Your own solution posted recently in the Treasure Review thread - wait for the Special Edition. 2) Download the digital album and when the extra tracks are released, download just the extra tracks, if you like them. 3) Buy the original CD and when the extra tracks are released, just download them, if you like them. I chose option 3) when Hayley's 'Treasure' was released for download with two extra tracks. I may do the same for the All Angels re-release. My daughters keep telling me I need to "get with the digital and Internet age" so I am trying. Very trying, so they tell me! Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave, I guess, that when your daughters say you are trying, they mean it in the sense that you can be trying indeed ? That's just what applies to me - I believe I can be very trying too - although I have no daughters to tell me so - I have to draw that conclusion myself .... Anyway, I had in mind to buy the All Angels CD (and a few others) on my coming visit to the UK in connection with the Classical Brits. My previous post in this thread has nothing to do with bias against All Angels - in fact I have really enjoyed whatever music I heard of them on-line. I prefer them at this stage above Libera, Joseph McManners, The Choirboys and Angelis - but in a way it is a (quite possibly futile) attempt at telling record companies that not everyone appreciates their marketing ploys. Comparing the track listings of the two versions of the CD, undoubtedly the second version is far better value for money, as one track ("Silent Night") has been replaced by three other tracks. And "Silent Night" is available as a single, I believe .... But it is just the fact that the second version is so clearly better value that annoys me .... Because I would simply not be prepared to pay a full CD price for just 3 tracks, not from any singer. That includes Yulia Townsend and Katherine Jenkins. In Yulia's case, waiting for half a year has netted me better value for money indeed (a re-release with a bonus DVD of her second album; I never had to pay for her first album as I got a demo version and a re-release with bonus Christmas CD free of charge). In Katherine's case, I simply won't buy her US version of Second Nature (La Diva), and I simply won't buy a CD called From The Heart, which is available in Hong Kong and seems to be very much a "Greatest Hits" CD ,,,, In the case of All Angels, if there's a DVD released, I think I might buy that, and I may consider trying to buy individual tracks via Internet - but in that case only if I can subsequently burn them to a CD myself. Thanks Richard. Actually, UCJ emailed the video to me yesterday which Dave will be adding to AAI shortly.
You're right, though, it is stunning!

Oh great. So much for its chart success being boosted by coverage of the Classic Brits (which takes place on 3rd May). I don't know the reason for the postponement but I consider it unfortunate.

Hi Roger
I agree with your sentiments - Why miss the opportunity to raise their profile before the awards?
I just hope that the special edition does well because of the girls' success at the Brits.

Hello Roger! Highlights from the Classical Brit Awards are being shown on ITV 1 on Sunday 13th May 2007, the day before the new re-release date. The date may have been changed to tie in with the TV coverage in the hope of boosting sales, so I trust All Angels' performance will be included in the broadcast. Best Wishes, Richard

Hi Richard, Highlights from the Classical Brit Awards are being shown on ITV 1 on Sunday 13th May 2007 Mmm, but that is a repeat. The first broadcast according to the All Angels newsletter (dated 21st March) is on 6th May. If the delayed release is because of the transmission dates, I would have thought it would appear in time for both and not just the repeat. Roger

Here is a review from "The Daily Post". I posted it here and not in the "All Angels - Album review" because the current review is based on the re-release CD.

Very interesting.
On the negative side they are not supporting All Angels as one had expected becaue the CD is a very obvious general promoitonal window whereas downloading isn't. On the positive side, going digital is the way the world is wagging, it encourages a double buy for those who already have the CD but may also indicate a cost evaluation. They want a higher than might otherwise be expected sales volume to make a CD, than providing digital downloads. Are the producers more and more concerned about margins?
Dave, any comments?

Last night, I downloaded the three bonus tracks: Sancte Deus (Nimrod) is absolutely gorgeous. Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace is also absolutely gorgeous. Pie Jesu is, you've guess, AG! These tracks, and the entire album with the exception of 'Silent Night', are available now at 7digital.com for 77 pence each or 7.77 GBP for all fifteen tracks! Roger
