Hi everyone... hope you are all well. On my way home from work today i was listening to Odyssey. From all the great artists out there who have sung Ave Maria (and there are lots... they all seem to have sung it) Hayley i feel is by far the best. Usually i get a little bored when listneing to Ave Maria but when Hayley sings it I am captivated to the end. So much so I nearly missed my station today Long long long may she last. Gerry

Hi Gerry, It's great to hear from you! I would agree with you about Hayley's version of Caccini's 'Ave Maria' . Have you had the pleasure of witnessing Hayley singing this song live yet? This brings a whole new dimension into the equation- a very moving experience indeed. Incidentally, where about in Scotland are you? There was me thinking I was the "lone piper" on this website... It's great to have you on board- here's to you... slange! (cheers!) I raise to you an 18 year old Glen Morangie! I've listed to Hayley's music since 2003 after first hearing 'Hine E Hine' on Classic FM (whilst I was soaking in Radox!) I've been hooked ever since. I was born in Edinburgh, but I have parents from both sides of the Border. My my Mum is from Ayr and my Dad is from Suffolk, East Anglia. They met whilst on Holiday in Devon. Tell us a bit more about yourself... Andrew

Cheers Andrew. I've not heard Hayley live...yet...but i am going to the Il Divo concert in a couple of months. Really looking forward to it. My wife is the Il Divo fan.. i'm just going for Hayley Well Andrew i'm from Glasgow (North) originaly from Grangemouth. So your not the lone piper anymore. I bet soon there will be enough for a full pipe band and we could accompany Hayley with Amazing Grace Gerry

Hi Gerry,
Let me know when you've got the pipe band together. I love the sound of the pipes, even though I'm a southerner!
Best wishes from West Sussex, Roger

Hi Roger, Wish I was able to play the pipes. Amazing Grace sounds best accompanied by the bagpipes and with Hayley singing, it would be even more 'Amazing' Gerry

Hello Gerry! Caccini's "Ave Maria" is one of my favourite Hayley tracks too, and I can confirm that it sounds sensational when she sings it live in a church. Last autumn I heard Hayley sing it in St. James's Church, Piccadilly, St. Mary's Church, Banbury and St. John's, Smith Square. The beautiful surroundings and acoustics gave Hayley's soaring vocals a truly angelic quality that had to be heard to be believed! If you buy Hayley's first Universal New Zealand CD, "Hayley Westenra", you will hear her at the age of thirteen singing "Amazing Grace" live accompanied by bagpipes. This CD was only officially released in New Zealand in 2001, but it can be obtained in the UK via the import channels, and I occasionally see a few copies in HMV and Virgin Megastores. You can listen to a short clip of "Amazing Grace" here. Click on the spinning disc. Best Wishes from London, Richard

Hi again Gerry, I guess I might see you at the SECC then? Which gig are you going to? Thurs April 6th or Friday 7th? I'm going on the Friday... I'm sitting in the front row (A11) i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif after having booked my seat back on October 27th (as soon as I heard Hayley was supporting Il Divo). I'm not an Il Divo fan either, but will try to remain open-minded. Andrew

One of my English teachers from school, used to play the bagpipes at 7am at the bottom of his garden. There was a canal which ran adjacent to the bottom of his garden. I wondered how long it was going to be before the neighbours drowned him in it! He is however, still alive and well to this day... or so I'm told! Andrew

I guess by now the poor neighbours will be either completely brainwashed by the bagpipes, or else they will still be boosting Johnson and Johnson's profits (in their demand for cottonwool!) Andrew

Forgot to say Richard... thanks for the link to the snippit of Amazing Grace. I did enjoy it.... will have to look into getting the recording. As my wife is monopolising the computer I had to access it with my palm held through wi-fi then through the portable speakers but still sounded great.thank god for gadgets. I'm even having to write this using the stylus and virtual keyboard. Well i can't really stop her from using the comp when i want to since my stepdaughter is expecting her first baby in May so she is constantly checking out baby stuff. what a year I have ahead of me....I'm too young to be a step-grandad lol
