Nicola's post was a natural progression from what had preceeded it and, as such, remained on topic. If anyone wishes to begin a new thread in which we can discuss negative feedback in general, they are welcome to start it, but I suggest that we wait until it becomes relevant and not do so merely for the sake of it.
Meanwhile, I agree with Belinda - I think this thread has run it's course. Thank you all for your comments.
Roger

Ok, no offence Belinda, but I don't see why you should come in here and tell people to stop the discussion. It was kinda rude. Personally, however, I don't have anything more to say about the matter. I have said what I wanted to say and I still think that way. If the discussion has run its course, let it do so naturally, not when you decide it's time to stop. I'm not trying to cause an argument here or anything - I just couldn't help feeling how rude it was of you. I genuinely mean no offence. And I'm being the controversial one again... you all must think I am a trouble maker or something

Hi Nicola,
I do not agree that Belinda's post was in any way rude. It was a perfectly reasonable and well-timed request that the thread be allowed to reach it's natural conclusion.
I would respectfully point out that, as a Moderator, she had every right to make such a request and even to lock the thread if she had so wished.

I didn't feel that the thread had run its course in terms of negative feedback. But it had run its course regarding the review. Belinda's comment implied that she thought discussion should only be about the review and not run into something related. Which I'm sure was not Belinda's intention, but it still felt abrupt and rude.

At one stage I decided to stay out of this discussion - but now I want to put in a few bits.
The "review" at Amazon that started off this discussion was an absolute disgrace - it had nothing to do with a review, it was just a person spilling venom. No rational argument was given as to why Odyssey is a bad album.
Amazon did the only right thing by removing it.
End of story. Belinda was right on this one about concluding the argument.
Please note that this comment is coming from a person who himself has expressed some negative comments about Odyssey on this very forum.

I think everyne is entitled to their opinions and to coerce amazon into removing something from their reviews merely because you dislike it is appalling behaviour. I did see the review on Amazon and thought it childish and petty, but so what? Just ignore it, or write your own counter-views.
I also like the cross-over genre, but there are plenty of classical music lovers who despise it, that's their choice and their right in a free society.

Like crabbydog said, it's childish and petty. But also, it's AMAZON, not exactly the best place to find proper grammar or mature behavior. Why should you all be bothered about what one person thinks when you know that most intelligent buyers can take all reviews with a grain of salt, even reviews from die hard fans who refuse to say a bad word about the album?
The childish review only reflects badly on the person who wrote it, not on Hayley or Odyssey or the crossover genre (though, as someone who's not terribly fond of Hayley or crossover, I think that in his pettiness, he had a valid point). Let sleeping dogs lie, is what I think.

Coercive? Appalling? Oh come now. This is simply a matter of people choosing NOT to ignore an offensive statement among the reviews and calling amazon.com on it. I filed a motion recently that the other party did not like and he telephoned me to try to get me to withdraw it,complete with threats to sanction. I saw no reason to roll over and play dead, and called him on it, and he abandoned his attempt to bully.
I did think I'd better speak up here, though, I have to say I don't like the idea of anyone, moderator or not, stating that they're going to shut down a discussion unless and untill it gets really inappropriate. I have seen other websites become tyrannical through just that kind of behavior, and I hope that we intelligent, educated people of goodwill are capable of reasoned discussion even of something like this.
