Hi everybody, "Music On Fire", a fireworks prom featuring Hayley Westenra will take place at the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst from September 18 to 20. This year "Music On Fire" is celebrating James Bond and the centenary of his creator, former Sandhurst Officer Cadet, Ian Fleming. This event features guest performers including Hayley Westenra, a 100-piece orchestra, 100-voice choir, thrilling firework display, magical Son et Lumiere and night time drops by The Red Devils and The Black Knights. Guests are invited to picnic on the lawn as they enjoy the show. All proceeds will go to the ABF’s new fund for veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq. At the moment, there's nothing on the "Music on Fire" official website but tickets are already on sale on Ticketmaster. Stephany

Hi Stephany Thanks for this announcement - I am definitely interested but will wait on Bedlam. Do you know if Hayley will be attending all three nights? Also, the Ticketmaster site implies that all tickets are seated as the ticket types are "standard seating" at £21 - £29 and "premium tickets" at £31 - £39. Very confusing. Best Wishes Martin

Hi everyone
Does anyone know if all three nights are the same? I'd hate to book up for the Thursday or Friday only to find out that the fireworks were only on the Saturday.
Thanks
Colin

Hello all, WOW, this looks like a spectacular event! I'm presuming this is equivalent to our Starlight Symphony Orchestra, held every year in Auckland? Can't wait to see Hayley. I wonder what she would perform, though.... Dori

Hi everyone Given that this event has an 007 theme, I wonder if Hayley will sing one of the great Bond theme songs - Nobody Does It Better? It's certainly an apt title for a song for her to sing i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifCheers Colin

If the photocall was actually in Sandhurst then not even HWI members would have got past security! Martin

Hi everyone, Here's an interesting article about yesterday's photocall. Hayley has confirmed that she's going to sing one of the Bond themes! and a night-time parachute jump by the Red Devils and the Black Knights. With 2008 marking a century since the birth of James Bond creator and former Sandhurst cadet Ian Fleming, event producer Major Sir Michael Parker explained that 007 seemed the perfect theme for this year’s show. "I came up with the idea of doing a big event in Sandhurst to raise money and apart from anything else I rather like the idea of blowing Sandhurst up," he joked. "It’s going to be great fun. People can come and have a picnic and have a marvellous evening and at the same time raise some much needed money for the Army Benevolent Fund. "With all the people who have been fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, our needs in the future are going to be considerable so it’s very important we raise some money now to help them. "The idea is to have great fun, listen to some marvellous music, see some fantastic projections up on the building and have all the excitement of the fireworks." New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra said: "I was invited to be part of the event and I seized the opportunity.
"It’s a fantastic event that’s raising money for a great cause and it’s going to be amazing. I’m aware the 2006 event was huge but this year is going to be even bigger I’m told.
"There’s the Bond theme to the show which should be a lot of fun as well. I’m going to be singing one of the Bond themes." Lance Bombardier Rick Bishop made an impressive entrance to the preview, even taking a near miss with watching photographers in his stride. "It was good. It was a little bit lower than we’re used to and I did actually ask the ground crew to move all the reporters off to the side, but it was fine," he said. "It was a little bit windy but that’s better because it gives you a bit of a slower landing. "There’s a couple of night jumps for the actual event so I’ll be one of the display jumpers for that. It’s going to be pretty spectacular and the whole team’s looking forward to the event." Music on Fire 2008 will take place on September 18, 19 and 20 at Sandhurst Royal Military Academy. Standard adult tickets are priced at £29 and are available through Ticketmaster on 0844 847 1657 or at http://www.musiconfire.com.
Stephany
