All's well that ends well.
Many thanks Martin, Grant and Mark for your various cliff-hanging reports.
It is perhaps unfortunate that Hayley was not being escorted by Ray. If Dave is being used again (was it the same Dave that went to Aberglasney Mark?) he will begin to recognise faces.
Steven, we are spoiled over here with a relaxed society and security at such venues. However, to be the sole individual responsible for such a treasure must be daunting for the uninitiated. I am sure that Hayley proceeds with caution without putting herself at risk.
Mark, I see from your photo that you were not in uniform last night. Does the tartan tie act as a password for security? Subtle but trusted, and the issue of them is controlled entirely by HWI.
(Belinda, do you sell polo shirts only to HWI members?)

Hello,
Thank you very much for all your reports! It was interesting to read what happened after the concert. I'm glad you got to meet Hayley despite this "misunderstanding".

The hotel thing is over the top. Once the performer leaves the venue she is "off duty" and her privacy should be respected. Yet this group "kept watch" (their words not mine) at the gates of Hayley's hotel, Steven, I think your post is over the top and I hope from the subsequent reports including Mark's, you can see that now. Most of it has already been covered by members who were there on the night but what I have quoted above is important. Kilworth House Theatre is a separate structure (structures) within the grounds of Kilworth House Hotel - which is out in open countryside. After the concert, some members went to the hotel main gate I think (which is some distance from the hotel buildings and the separate theatre) because it is the exit from the theatre too. They wanted to do what many Hayley fans like to do afterwards, to wave to and/or possibly chat to her after the concert, even though they knew it might not happen.. Hayley would not have been staying at the hotel itself and we know she rarely does that after concerts in England and Wales - this one was less than two hours drive from London, where she lives. So she was being driven home from the theatre, out along the hotel exit road and she saw a small group of HWI members, whom she was expecting and knew she would recognise because Mark had already told her about them. She could if she wished have driven past or have just waved from the car, as she sometimes does. I see this as the countryside equivalent of having to stand a few yards away from the stage door at a city venue. I do not think any members would ever 'stake out' Hayley or anyone else's hotel in the way you suggest, it was not done this time, and we would certainly disapprove of and discourage any such behaviour, as we have said in the past on more than one occasion. One final comment. Yes, security is important but it should be kept in proportion and handled diplomatically if possible; normally, this is how it's done and there are no problems. So here, the missing ingredient may simply have been 'diplomacy'. This wasn't the G8 summit in Geneva, it was a small summer concert in rural Leicestershire. Dave

Hi Dave Thanks for that. The venue was as you described it, with the exit serving both the hotel and the theatre. I can confirm that I would certainly never 'stake-out' anyone and particularly not Hayley. I'm sure the same could be said for everyone of us present last night. Indeed, I feel that if there is one thing that HWI ers pride themselves on - its being most respectful of Hayley's time and private life. That is why I am sure that she is always happy, when its possible of course, to go out of her way to make a little time for us after the show. A relationship built on mutual respect. I didn't really want this thread to turn into a debate but feel I should have my brief say. Thats it now On a lighter note, as I have already said, what happened didn't/shouldn't detract from what was a wonderful concert, made even more special for my guests at their first concert, by having what I guess you would call a private meeting with Hayley, arranged by non other than the security guard in question i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifBest regards Mark

Well,
First of all many thanks to Grant, Mark and George for their reports and the pictures.
It seems really to be necessary to see the event from the right perspective. As Dave said, it wasn't the G8 summit or a problem district. So it's time to calm down.
Cheers, Karsten

Oh boy, have I made a blunder here. I think I will turn in all Hayley property, throw away my camera, and leave the premises immediately.

Hi Mark Thank you for you report. I must say I have been puzzled ever since you drove out grinning as we stood talking to Hayley! Now I know!! I'm very glad that things turned out alright in the end, but it really should not have got to be the situation it did. What I didn't say was that there were actually three of them although only one spoke. As Dave suggested, diplomacy failed completely and it would have been a simple matter for one of them to pop back to ask what should be done with us; which he obviously did subsequently. In effect, by doing what he initially did, in order to prevent Hayley being inconvenienced, actually had the opposite effect as she had to stop twice! Having said that, I give him full credit for rectifying his mistake personally. A lesser person would have gone into hiding and sent a minion to do his dirty work! At least he'll know who we are when/if Hayley does perform there again next year. Best wishes Grant P.S. Thanks for telling Hayley where we were Mark - you're a star!

Thanks for those reports Grant and Mark. We missed out. But I doubt my friends would have wanted to do anything like that anyway. Did you see the beautiful sunset as we left? It was stunning! A stunning end to a stunning evening.
Now to see if I can remember how to post photos!

Right here goes. Actually I don't have many pictures worth posting, since I was saving memory in the hope of getting some of the performance. But when the announcement about photography was made at the beginning of the concert, my camera went into my pocket. Mind you, I did see a guy with a camera with a very long lens taking pictures, but since he was also chatting to the guy who was watching the rest of us for cameras, I guess he must have been official. This is the first picture I took of the stage before the concert. There was a sort of log cabin near the theatre. There was a notice outside that read "Private Party" and we were speculating as to weather Hayley was in there. She wasn't, and if she had been she would have had to walk straight past us to get backstage. This next one is a shot of the auditorium. And some renegades!!! Martin

This one is a better view of the stage. You can see the four seats for the Ravens, and Al's (and Hayley's) piano. Finally is the view from my seat. This was right over on the right of the auditorium on the very back row. Actually, although we would have preferred to be nearer to the action, you did get a great view, and could see everything that was happening. If anybody had been taking a photo (apart from the guy with the long lend) we would have seen them. I could also see a sheet of paper lying on the floor behing one of the speakers at the front of the stage. This was just in front of where Hayley would be standing, and I think must have been her set list. Perhaps Grant of Mark can confirm. You can just about see it in between the two people waling from with to left across the front of the stage. And yes, in the end Sue and I did get to sit together. She was the noisyest member of the audience, shouting encouragement to Hayley occasionally, and the only one in the audience. who stood up during the final applause. She was also making comments like "lovely" and "beautiful" after each song, so perhaps she is coming round to being as enthusiastic as I am about Hayley. Martin PS. You can see the set list in the top photo too!

Hi All, WOW... what an exciting evening for everybody at Kilworth House! Thank you Mark and Grant for your excellent Concert Reports! I've really enjoyed reading those and there certainly was a "twist in the tale" towards the end! i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gifI would love to hear how Hayley's guest musicians sound with Hayley... I'm very intrigued to hear about the "large orchestra" sound which they produce! I wonder which Concerts (if any) "The Raven Quartet" will attend to accompany Hayley on stage during the 'River of Dreams' Tour Concerts? Thank you Mark and Martindn for sharing your excellent photographs with us too! Thank you everybody! Andrew

Oh, and perhaps I should add the the three pieces peformed by the Ravens in the first half were:
1. A piece from Vivaldi's Four Seasons (I think it's one of the summer ones, the fastest of them all anyway - depicting I think a rainstorm).
2. An instrumental version of the song I know as Nella Fantasia, as sung by Sarah Brightman and Katherine Jenkins (seperately), but my friend who came with may said it was called "Gabriel's Oboe". It's the same song either way.
3. One of the dances from Khachturians ballet Gayeneh. I can never remember which is which.
I have no idea what the peices were they played in the second half, whether it was two x two movements or a single work with four movements. But with one exception the audience clapped each movement individually. I wonder what was wrong with the one they didn't clap - it sounded all right to be. I think the girls weren't sure what the audience were doing anyway, not quite sure when to start playing again.

3. One of the dances from Khachturians ballet Gayeneh. I can never remember which is which. *Guessing* Might it have been the Sabre Dance, Martin? That is probably the best know from Gayeneh. Roger
