Hello folks! It's taken me a week to spot this, but surely this thread should be on the Hayley in Concert board, not Miscellaneous. I'm moving it now. Richard

Hi Folks everywhere,
I voted Shepherd's Bush.
Firstly when I saw this thread I thought about those members who have not been to a Hayley concert this year or maybe ever and I wondered how they feel when they see a thread like this. Do they just ignore it ? Do they read it with great envy ? My sympathy goes out to those of you who have not seen Hayley live in concert. If it is at all possible, do make an effort to get to a Hayley concert when you can.
Many have voted for Shepherd's Bush but my reasons are different, I loved Hayley singing the unfamiliar material like Bic Runga's Something Good, a gorgeous song and a real eye opener into Hayley's other capabilities as a singer. Six months in a leaky boat, I hope I never, Oughta be in love and familiar songs like Don't Dream it's over and the Mummer's dance. The noise and party atmosphere did not really bother me as I had no pre-set expectations for this event. I think Hayley really enjoyed the very instantaneous feedback she was getting from the audience at this event as it allowed her to be far more natural and spontaneous than she would be at a more formal event.
To my delight when I got home from London I was able to enjoy these songs all over again on the Shepherd's bush thread and listen to various other artists perform them as well on YouTube allowing me to make comparisons with other performances.
I also enjoyed the two concerts in Dublin but there was certainly a more restrained and formal air about the audience because of the setting.

The problem with this thread is not just for those like me who didn't see Hayley in concert in 2007, but those who didn't see ALL of her concerts. What if you only went to one concert.? That one will automatically be your favourite, irrespective of how good the others were. Considering that to attend all of Hayleys concerts this year would involve extensive times in the USA following Cetlic Woman, and three weeks in Japan as well as an extended time in the UK, I doubt that anyone can make an obective jugement. I suspect that the only person who was at all of those concerts was Hayley herself!

Sadly I haven't been at any of the concerts, but thanks to the awesome coverage at HWI, I almost feel as if I've been to all of them!
I'd vote Shepher's Bush because I love the prospect of Hayley taking chances and singing in different styles. My other choice would be the BBC concert Dave recently uploaded, where Hayley sang One Fine Day. The arrangements were great, and her voice sounded even better than on CD.

Hi James, I wouldn't be surprised if it was indeed Shepherds Bush. After all, Hayley reportedly loved it so much that her New Zealand tour is based on it. It was a great idea to do a Kiwi gathering in London (even though a group of non-Kiwis managed to sneak in ). Stephany

It is only two weeks since I saw Hayley and I am missing her already, so I can only imaging how our overseas friends are feeling, whether they are waiting for their ‘first’ or to renew an acquaintance and it makes me wonder how Hayley herself feels. I’m sure the fact that she cannot perform for everyone is very frustrating for her, yet the simple fact is there just aren’t enough hours in a day to make that possible. It is difficult for us too. On one hand we have members clammering for reports to the minutest detail, whilst, for others, it only heightens their desire for a Hayley concert in their part of the world. In truth, I believe we owe it to Hayley; her family and management and to each other to show our support by our enthusiasm for what she does for us. I’m sure our overseas friends will delight in presenting their detailed reports of the upcoming concerts in New Zealand to ‘get their own back’ so to speak and I am really looking forward to reading about what we are missing and to enjoy the photographs that accompany those reports. Feelings about concerts are always going to be very emotive for each one of us. Even our own feelings may change with different moods and already I am analysing my original choice of vote (not that I would change it if I could – it was, I felt, the right decision at the time). Recently, I awoke in the early hours and found myself going through each of Hayley's concerts, remembering special moments, to help me get back to sleep (beats counting sheep!). Chichester remains high on the list, but so does Telford, where Hayley sang an a capella ‘Abide With Me’ especially for me. Coming right up to date, the totally unexpected and completely natural “Hi Grant!” from Hayley at Southampton has to be the icing on the cake for my ‘Hayley Year’ Bless you Hayley!! Best wishes Grant

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas! This is a hard choice as I've enjoyed all of the concerts I've been to this year, but for me I think it has to be the Buccleuch Centre back in September, not least for it being in my home country i.postimg.cc/9fYxy370/smilie-big-grin.gif, which made it just a little bit more personal for me, and of course just for being such a fantastic and hugely enjoyable event! Must admit I wish I could've gone to Shepherd's Bush though, given what's been said here about it. Best wishes David

Hi Everyone, To take up one of Grant's point's, I have not seen Hayley live yet but I have enjoyed reading people's account's of the various concerts. Like any poll of this sort I think you should take 'the result' with 'a pinch of salt' ; for a mixture of all the reasons that have been said. However that is no reason for it not to happen. I am lucky to be going to Buxton in April and this has increased my expectations. I can only imagine how I would feel if I thought I would not be able to go to a concert in the near future; perhaps it is better to let someone in that position say how they feel, rather than try and guess. To paraphrase one of my favourite movies:
Southampton. By all means, Southampton. I will cherish the concert here in memory as long as I live.
This was the fourth time I've seen Hayley live, and was lucky enough to meet her afterwards. So from the a cappella "Pokarekare ana..." at the start, in a wonderfully intimate concert hall, to having my photo taken with her at the end, this was the tops for me.

I dont know wether it is right that i should be posting in this thread but im going to anyway. I only saw Hayley in two concerts this year, one of which i organised, Victoria Hall and Gawsworth. Out of those two i would have to say my favourite was Gawsworth, mainly as i was there as a patron so i didnt have anything to worry about, yes Victoria Hall was fantastic and the acoustics of the hall suited Hayleys voice brilliantly but i didnt get to hear it all and there were so many pressures from everything else that Gawsworth would be my favourite.

Hi, I've been thinking, since the start of this poll, which one i should vote!! I've seen Hayley last year 3 times, the first at Sheperd's Bush, the second in Belgium, at Passchendaele Tribute, and the third was the Christmas concert in Dublin.I loved all concerts, her traditional songs, pop songs, playing the piano, the ambiance .......everything!!! I voted for the Sheperd's bush concert, because IMO, i've seen........don't know how to explain.............a new,or maybe different Hayley. What happened at the Sheperd's Bush concert, is now going to happen in her forthcoming NZ concerts.Singing classical songs, musical and popsongs, playing instruments, writing her own music, means that she is growing, looking for .........New horizons.(nice title for a new album).Wishing her good luck in 2008!!!! Greetings...............and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! JOYCE.

I just voted "other" - and I am referring to Llandudno, November 2004, when Hayley invited Holly Holyoake to be guest performer at her concert there - a concert for which I obtained a complimentary ticket courtesy of Keith.
it's something I could never repay Keith. Please rest in peace, Keith.

OOPS - it is only after I posted, I realised the poll asked for a 2007 concert ....

If it is at all possible, do make an effort to get to a Hayley concert when you can. Hi Comet I can only speak for myself, but in general I am simply much less attentive when I read the concert threads. The notable exception to this is when something a little off center happens, like at Shepard's Bush I am not envious. Having said this, it probably does have an indirect effect. I cant really contribute very much to a concert thread. This limits me to those threads in which I can make a contribution. These tend to be more speculative, and reflective or analytical. I would be active on those threads anyway - but I suspect that my personae here is much more like I am at work then when I am playing for that reason. Jon
