Steve H Thank you Steve, I knew I had seen it somewhere and it was so fantastic I began telling myself I dreamed it up. Hayley AND All Angels (currently in my headphones) Oh yeah yeah yeah! Peter S.

Hi Steve, Thanks very much for the lovely scan. Just a quick question to you or one of our local members: how easy it is to get to Orwell Park from the city centre of Ipswich? Thank you in advance Stephany PS: no, I'm not going, just asking

Nice looking Spitfire in the upper-left corner! Maybe that was Hayley's great-uncle at the controls? But seriously, why include a symbol of warfare in the promo when the event is supposed to be peaceful and angelic? And where's the 5th angel?

Hi Steve,
The Spitfire is included because as part of the evenings entertainment there will be a Spitfire flyover display - That should be something worth seeing in itself.
The 5th Angel competition was always just for a one off concert and recording, it wasn't permanent, although Alexandra did step in when Laura was ill last weekend.
Stephany, I have just had a look for buses and it doesn't seem that there are many that go from Ipswich to Nacton, only for the school run.

Hi, the discussion in the Henley Festival 2008 thread have reminded me of this one I've completely forgotten. In addition to the not as pricy tickets compared with Henley it seems to be only a short trip from Stansted, so I booked notwithstanding the missing confirmation by Bedlam. As a newbie in attending British picnic concerts I've one question: Which "essentials" are indispensable for such an event (albeit the knowledge of the lyrics of Pomp and Circumstance March No 1) ? Many thanks in advance, Karsten

As a newbie in attending British picnic concerts I've one question: Which "essentials" are indispensable for such an event (albeit the knowledge of the lyrics of Pomp and Circumstance March No 1) ? Hi Karsten, It's the middle of British summer, so the first essential item would be a waterproof! Sitting on the ground can be uncomfortable for long periods so a collapsable picnic chair would be advised, or if you insist on sitting on the floor then make sure you bring a blanket or waterproof sheet. Notwithstanding the rain problem, you probably also need some sunblock! Some food and drink may be advisable, but you can usually get some food at the venue. In addition to the Pomp and Circumstance lyrics (more commonly known as "Land of Hope and Glory"), the lyrics to "Rule Brittannia" could also come in handy. Hayley sang this very well at Hurtwood Park last year. Make sure you also bring your singing voice... James

Hi Everyone,
I don't seem to have mentioned in this thread yet, but I have booked tickets for this event, I will also be staying at the Premier Inn Ipswich, will be going along with a friend who can drive so fortunatly getting to and from the park wont be a problem.
I will be borrowing my brothers fishing chair for these events, I will probably get more use out of it then he will this year!

Hello everybody! I'm also interested by this one but I'm a little bit concerned about how to get there from Ipswich and also how to get back to the accommodation after the concert. Also, it's a bit early to say whether I'll be on holidays or not in July so it's not really helpful that it's on a Sunday. We shall see nearer the time. Hopefully there will still be tickets left by then. Stephany

Hi Stephany,
It would be wrong of me to say for sure as it is not me driving but I am sure that my friend wouldn't mind giving you a lift to and from Ipswich, when you know that you are able to go or not, I will ask him.
If there are quite a few forum members interested, who are without a car and staying in Ipswich I am sure that the cost of a taxi split between people wouldn't be too much either.

Hello Dazza, Thank you very much! Yes, I'm sure we can manage something with so many HWI members going. I hope I can make it because having All Angels and Hayley in concert together is simply awesome. But I also love fireworks I'll probably need to book a ticket just in case. We never know! Stephany

Hi Karsten and James James, your advice is excellent and concise. It is also worth bearing in mind that venues frequently set aside different areas for different types of seating. At Hurtwood Park, Blankets etc. were at the front, chairs behind and gazeebo's at the back. Best wishes Grant

Hi Stephany The beauty of a 'picnic' type concert is that the criteria for a good view is to arrive very early on the day and not to be the first to buy tickets. That's unless the tickets sell out quickly and they don't usually with the weather often being a deciding factor! I have not made any clear plans but I'm most likely to be driving and, if so, would be more than happy to provide you with transport between hotel and concert and return. Lots of Love Grant
