Hi everybody! I'm opening a new thread in the concert board about Mike Oldfield's concert in Bilbao on 7 March 2008 because Hayley's appareance has been confirmed by Universal Music Spain. Mike Oldfield will be performing tracks from his new CD 'Music Of The Spheres' live as part of a launch event at the prestigious Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. He and Hayley will be accompanied by the Euskaudiko Orkestra. Please note that no confirmation from Bedlam Management has been received yet. The full report is in Spanish so I can't post it here but here's the link: Music of the Spheres concert. I'll post a rough translation shortly. Stephany

Here's my translation based on an excerpt of the announcement. The flyer I posted above is basically saying the same thing with another paragraph to explain what's the album about. Lang Lang will not appear at this concert - which is private and reserved to the press by the way. Stephany

Confirmed
This event, and Hayley's participation in it, has now been confirmed by Bedlam Management. However, as Stephany indicated last night, this is NOT a public event but for the industry only.

Hello, About the album and Hayley collaboration i found an article on an italian site. Here's the translation. Mike Oldfield, spring delay january 08 2008 delayed to spring 2008 the release of Oldfield's next album "music of the spheres" Spl80 said the album release was imminent already back in 2007. It's an awesome work featuring famous artists from around the world, and every thing must in its right place. Mike Oldfield comeback album is titled "music of the spheres" its title showcases the scientific inspiration behind this new suggestive record. An ancient philosophical concept, probably belonging to Pitagora, says that music is something reacting to the movement of the sun, the moon and the planets. The mass of stars and the structure of nature itself shapes music. So music is not something to just listen to, but also math, philosophy and harmony. But more than complex explanations, what's important is, for Oldfield, the result: an album full of magic and wonderful sounds. Oldfield says Holst, Rachmaninov, Steve Reich and William Orbit has been his inspiration, but the truth is he's a very unique artist. This is what lies in his incoming work: orchestra and choir, thrilling guitar solos, the legendary sopran Hayley Westenra and the pianist Lang Lang. Music of The Spheres, in stores from November, is epic, sweet, andante and triumphant. Another masterpiece, in a career almost 35 years long. The interest thing is that Hayley is called a "legendary soprano".. and Hayley is almost unknown here. Will the song "On My Heart" and this collaboration be able to bring new people to discover Hayley? I really hope so... I've also tried to listen the song on Mike's site but it doesn't seems to work Emil

Hi the28sky.
We are going to have a problem with your post as there is too much in Italian and promoter's rules are to be English only (apart from the 'odd' word)
Can you manage a translation, please, but please don't be put off posting, its just part of the host server's regulations. Just for the moment leave the post and cut that paragraph through the modify post option..

Here's a BabelFish translation...
Mike Oldfield, dismissal in spring Sent back tuesday 08 January 2008 to the spring of the 2008 escape of already announced album of Mike Oldfield, "Music Of The Spheres". Spl80 had given the news of the imminent escape of the new album of Mike Oldfield already to september 2007. Draft of a overtime that sees collaborations of world-wide reputation and therefore all must be perfect... Mike Oldfield returns with a new one attended entitled album "Music of the Spheres". The title it, music of the spheres, leaves endured to intuire the scientific inspiration behind this new evocative job. An ancient philosophical concept, probably pertaining to Pitagora, said that music é in relation with the movement of the sun, the moon and planets. The concept in a generalized manner regards the proportions of the movements of the celestial bodies and the structure of the nature like music shape. Perfectly ascoltabile music é but é not seen like a philosophical concept mathematical harmonic. But afterlife of the complex explanations that that it counts here for ours found again Mike Oldfield é the result: the nth rich album of magic and extraordinary sounds. Oldfield says to inspire itself to Holst and Rachmaninov, to Steve Reich and William Orbit but in truth only he é in its kind, the Mike Oldfield always. Here what proposes to us stavolta: many orchestras, choruses and thrilling assoli of guitar; the soprano leggendario Hayley Westenra and the pianista Lang Lang. "Music Of The Spheres", from November in the storees é epico, sweet, andante and triumphant. Insomma, an other capolavoro after nearly 35 years of career!

Hi Folks
I thought the phrase " Music of the spheres " was about listening to the music within oneself in a meditative, trance or transcendental state.
I am looking forward to Mikes new album especially with Hayley on it.
I am effected by a certain sphere myself, namely the moon which causes me to howl and become severely tempted by poles and lampposts and trees and other vertical objects. Most people are reluctant to believe they are effected by the moon because of it's association with becoming a LUNATIC (Lunar) But most animals and humans are directly effected by the lunar cycle.

Hi all,
I've read a few reports about this concert in Spanish this morning. They say very little of Hayley's participation - except that "On my Heart" was one of the most moving piece they played at the event. Several pictures are also available but none of them feature Hayley.
